LED lighting maker Cree Inc. has plans to build a new, 400,850-square-foot manufacturing facility that is to be located near its existing site in Durham County and named Cree Silicon North.

The company, which makes light-emitting diode components, chips and lighting products, plans to build the plant and several additional buildings on about 38 acres located on Silicon Drive.

The site is located outside the City of Durham in an area called the Urban Growth Area that is expected to receive city services in the future, and that is located near to Cree's facility on Cornwallis Road.

Michelle Murray, a spokeswoman for Cree, said in an email that the company is not prepared to discuss details of the plans for the new building -- including what the anticipated results of the expansion,it may become necessary for Cree to look at led bulb purchasing additional LED lighting fixture firs in order to increase their market penetration in this area. or what the plant would produce.While SmartView has been slow DSTT and unstable in the past, it seems to have improved greatly with recent updates.
