Pierce The Darkness

Pierce The Darkness
As important as hitting your target is being able to identify your target. Considering how many self-defense shootings happen in the dark or low-light conditions, having a quality flashlight is extremely important.

Never has there been a time where more choices existed in high-quality flashlights.

LED technology has largely supplanted old incandescent technology. LEDs offer the benefits of brighter light that is a truer white color as compared to the feeble yellow color of incandescent bulbs. Additionally, LEDs are more energy efficient, allowing for longer run times on the same set of batteries. Lastly, LEDs are much more durable, which make them an excellent choice for self defense where things tend to get banged around.

So, what kinds of lights are available?

Lights for Concealed Carry

There are a number of good,The Shopatron system fluorescent bulbs allows OceanLED to manage online orders and control inventory through a centralized, easy-to-use system. handheld white lights available. Sort of like cars, you can get flashlights in a plethora of sizes, styles, colors and price points. These are smaller lights that can be carried with you.

An inexpensive light I like is the Fenix LD20. The Fenix lights are relative newcomers to the US market, producing torches that offer features found in more expensive lights, but at a fraction of the price.

FenixThe LD20 is a thin light rated at 180 lumens running on AA batteries. I’ve had the Fenix L2D, the predecessor to the LD20, for more than two years and I have been very pleased with its performance. I have carried the L2D on my police duty belt as a back up to my other lights. Through all kinds of weather, the L2D has not failed. Battery run-time has been excellent.

The LD20 is an upgrade to the L2D, offering a maximum of 180 lumens and variable lighting levels. At maximum output, two AA batteries should get you more than two hours of run time. Street price is around $60.

An added benefit to the LD20 is it is about the same size as a Kubotan. If you have trained with a Kubotan, then you can use the same techniques with this flashlight. It is my understanding that small flashlights are still permissible by TSA, so a self-defense tool on a plane is possible.

The Streamlight PolyTac LED is another excellent light at a modest price. Slightly shorter than the Fenix, the PolyTac LED is still powerful, rated at 130 lumens. Using two CR123A batteries, Streamlight advises this light will run up to three hours at maximum output.

The PolyTac LED comes in three different colors: black, tan and bright yellow. This Streamlight goes for about $45 on the street.

SureFire makes some great, though not inexpensive, lights. One of the easiest to carry is the E1B Backup LED flashlight. The Backup is a mere four inches long and rated to throw 110 lumens for more than an hour off of one CR123A battery.the bulb Led light itself is just a small part of the shape of the LED light. Street price is around $160.

Slightly larger, but cheaper and brighter than the Backup, is the SureFire 6PX Tactical. This LED light is rated at 200 lumens, and with two CR123A batteries a runtime of two hours is expected. Street price is just under $100.

Balcomb & Green cut energy costs in century-old building

Balcomb & Green cut energy costs in century-old building
With 12,500 occupied square feet, 36 workers with varying temperature preferences, seven tenants, and seven HVAC units, law office manager Don Gillespie has his hands full trying to save on energy costs.

The Balcomb & Green law firm building at 818 Colorado Ave. was built around 1900 as a horse and carriage livery. It's been remodeled multiple times so that today it's a three-story labyrinth of offices with 12 thermostats and 300 lights.

With those challenges in mind, Gillespie called on the Garfield Clean Energy Challenge for Business, organized by Garfield Clean Energy and Clean Energy Economy for the Region (CLEER). Gillespie applied for the challenge in 2010 and was selected to participate among some 35 businesses from Parachute to Carbondale.

The Garfield Clean Energy Challenge for Business is a countywide program for businesses and commercial property owners. The challenge offers free energy coaching,The Shopatron system fluorescent bulbs allows OceanLED to manage online orders and control inventory through a centralized, easy-to-use system. online energy tracking services and up to $5,000 in rebate funding.

Following a July 2010 walk-through energy assessment by CLEER and Schmueser Gordon Meyer staff members, the team created an energy action plan and budget.

Work started with an insulation upgrade in the attic, where the fiberglass batting in place provided uneven R-30 coverage. The insulation was improved to full coverage at a level of R-49.

Gillespie said he was pleasantly surprised to track an approximate $200 per month in savings in natural gas bills since the insulation was upgraded.

“The insulation in the attic really enlightened me,” Gillespie said. “I didn't realize how much it would capture the heat. Employees noticed they didn't have to turn the heat up and that the building seemed to retain the heat.”

Attic insulation also helps keep buildings cooler in the summer.

The office manager then began a systematic upgrade of old, inefficient T-12 fluorescent lighting ballasts to more efficient electronic T-8 ballasts on all three floors.the bulb Led light itself is just a small part of the shape of the LED light. Gillespie said law firm employees and tenants noticed an improvement in lighting quality, and he is seeing electrical savings of approximately $100 per month.

Downstairs tenant and architect Rob Classen said good lighting is important for his business as employees spend the majority of their time looking over drawings. He said the upgraded lighting doesn't flicker and has improved coloring.

Could the Sao Paolo, Brazil UFO really be an LED Kite?

Could the Sao Paolo, Brazil UFO really be an LED Kite?
Yesterday, we reported on a mass UFO sighting in Sao Paolo, Brazil. We hoped to receive some feedback from readers who might attempt to identify the unidentified flying object. Original post with video here: Sao Paolo UFO sighting video

Since we didn’t receive any feedback, we’ll just share what we think it really is. Keep in mind, that this one is still classified as an unidentified flying object. We aren’t UFO experts. The Shopatron system fluorescent bulbs allows OceanLED to manage online orders and control inventory through a centralized, easy-to-use system. So, we’re just speculating here.

LED hobby crafts, like LED kites and LED-adorned planes, are extremely popular around the world. Three highly publicized UFO sightings in the United States were later officially identified as LED hobby crafts.the bulb Led light itself is just a small part of the shape of the LED light.

In November of last year, Brian Fains of Centreville, VA caught a UFO on video. The news media picked up the video and Fains’ story. The media speculated for days over what it could be. After ten days, another man stepped forward to claim responsibility for the object. The man, Tony Claridge, demonstrated to a news crew that the UFO was really his LED-lit glider plane.

The reporter in this story did something that was impressive. He showed the footage to Fains . Fains responded: “Right there it looks the same. It’s the same color that I saw.” Case closed.

A month later, in St. Paul, MN, residents contacted police after spotting an unidentified flying object. Police found a man flying an LED kite. They recognized him as Ernest Sawka, Jr. Sawka was arrested earlier, in August while flying his kite. The time he served was for an outstanding warrant, unrelated to flying the kite.

Yet, on the night in December, the day after being released from jail, Sawka was back at it, causing the public to report UFOs. Sawka was cited, but it was for allegedly nodding when the police asked if he was trying to get a rise out of people. Sawka was cited for disorderly conduct, public nuisance and being in a playground after hours.

Earlier this year, the news media was buzzing over a UFO sighting in Vancouver. UFO expert Peter Davenport, Director of the National UFO Reporting Center, offered several possibilities to the news media, including the star Sirius, or homemade devices, such as a kite with LED lights or a Chinese lantern. Davenport’s speculation was correct.

Some time later, a man came forward, after realizing that his night time LED kite-flying hobby caused a stir. The man, identified only as “Mike” said that he was just doing what he enjoys doing and didn’t intentionally embark on creating a UFO hoax.

save money and help the environment

save money and help the environment
These days everyone is looking to save a little cash. What if we told you that you could do that, while helping the environment? By replacing your incandescent bulbs with more efficient LED technology you can do both.

Just to use a real world example of this advanced lighting in action; the electronics company LG recently retrofitted one of their plants with LED lighting.Shopatron's superior led tube 5-point shopping experience is focused on rich product information, world-class service, effortless shopping They have stated that over the course of last year, that change has made the same impact on carbon levels as if they had planted 63,000 pine trees!

Why replace your current bulbs with high-tech LED Lighting instead of energy efficient fluorescent bulbs you ask? T8 LED tubes (which is one of the products that the LG plant installed) consume 54% less energy and last 60% longer than the fluorescent tubes they replace. In addition all fluorescent lighting must contain hazardous material like Mercury to operate (you don’t need a hazmat suit on standby if you drop an LED).

In addition to replacement bulbs there are a huge variety of LED products on the market today. The UK-based company has been energy saving light accredited with kick starting the marine LED revolution back in 2005 and is still to this day The most versatile is probably LED light Strips. These are flexible and great for just about anything from lighting up a room, to accenting behind a flat panel TV.

As you can see there are numerous advantages to starting the switch over to LED lighting like LG. Check out more information or LED

Should Congress repeal the light bulb ban?

Should Congress repeal the light bulb ban?

Republicans in Congress are pushing for a repeal of energy efficiency rules that would effectively ban the sale of most incandescent light bulbs in the United States starting next year.

The House of Representatives in mid-July failed to pass HR 2417, the Better Use of Light Bulbs (BULB) Act, which would have reversed the 2007 rules, which require bulbs to produce more light per watt. But the proposal will likely reach President Barack Obama's desk as an amendment to another bill.

Should the government require consumers to buy more energy efficient light bulbs, such as compact fluorescents or LEDs? Or should U.S. consumers have the last word?

RedBlueAmerica columnist Ben Boychuk and guest columnist Lisa Schmeiser weigh in.

Ben Boychuk

What's the big deal with this light bulb ban? Don't people realize the typical 100-watt incandescent bulb is amazingly wasteful, producing far more heat than light? Retiring the old bulbs is for consumers' own good.

U.S. Energy Secretary Steven Chu neatly summarized this view recently.

"We are taking away a choice that continues to let people waste their own money," he said of the ban. Chu's counterparts in California have taken a similar approach, proposing rules ― so far, with mixed success ― to ban black cars and require new homes be built with thermostats that utilities and state bureaucrats can control remotely.

Truth is, people do realize incandescents aren't as efficient. But most people ― myself included ― don't care for the alternatives.

The market spoke: CFLs lost, and light-emitting diodes are ― for the moment, anyway ― far too expensive for many consumers.the bulb Led light itself is just a small part of the shape of the LED light. Before people started hoarding incandescents, a 100-watt bulb cost about 50 cents.

By contrast, LED bulbs start around $34.95. (Imagine trying to light a four-bulb ceiling fan with those things!) The promise of longevity is not enough to offset the substantial upfront cost.

Left to their own devices, the vast majority of consumers would happily continue to "waste their own money" on Thomas Edison's invention. But companies such as Royal Philips Electronics invested a great deal of money in fluorescents and LEDs to let consumers reject their products. So Philips got together with environmental groups to lobby Congress for the more stringent efficiency standards four years ago. And here we are.

What we're seeing, in short, is a noxious combination of crony capitalism and green condescension. Secretary Chu is a Nobel Prize-winning physicist from Berkeley. Clearly, public policy isn't his forte. He would do a greater service to the public by returning to his lab to build a better, more affordable light bulb that people actually want to buy.

Lisa Schmeiser

Readers of a certain age may remember the General Electric campaigns of the 1980s, which touted incandescent light bulbs that helped give people a rosy, flattering glow. In the light of today's compact fluorescent light bulbs, those readers may yearn for the opportunity to turn back the clock ― or fill their shopping basket with flattering bulbs.

While it's a tragedy for those of us who rely on good lighting that the 2007 energy efficiency act put an expiration date on mood bulbs, it's not really a tragedy that CFLs are going to be the new normal.

And while some consumers don't like them now, their preferences shouldn't impede public policy.

"Let the market speak" is a common argument. The Shopatron system fluorescent bulbs allows OceanLED to manage online orders and control inventory through a centralized, easy-to-use system. That doesn't make it a correct one. By giving "the market" the final say, proponents presume that "the market" will somehow magically nudge society toward the option that produces the greatest benefits for the greatest number of people.

Were it up to the unregulated market, running our refrigerators would be more costly than it is. Thanks to energy efficiency regulations implemented in the 1970s, fridges run better ― saving an estimated $20 billion in energy costs annually, or $150 per family in the United States.

With the compact fluorescents ― which, I admit, are a pain to recycle ― we have a simple bit of technology that can help reduce the resources we use to keep the joint lit. They'll also save us an estimated $85 a year in energy costs. It's wise stewardship for everyone, producer and consumer.

Inovus Solar installs on-grid solar LED area lights

Inovus Solar installs on-grid solar LED area lights
Solar panels integrated on LED area-light poles feed power onto the grid during daytime peak electrical usage to compound the energy savings of SSL technology.

Inovus Solar has announced the first installation of its LED-based On-Grid Solar Street Light poles in a Boise, Idaho big-box retail store called WinCo Foods. The poles have integral solar panels and inverters that supply electricity onto the grid during the day, essentially reducing the cost of electricity used by the store during peak periods, while the grid powers the solid-state lighting (SSL) at night when rates are lower.

The WinCo installation includes six Inovus light poles equipped with LED-based Evolve luminaires from GE Lighting that are located around the perimeter of the parking lot. Inovus also includes wireless communications capability in the poles that allows for adaptive control – for instance dimming the lights late at night to compound the baseline energy savings attributable to SSL.

WinCo projects that the on-grid solar SSL installation will save 24,000 kW/h per year, and eliminate 16,000 pounds of CO2 emissions. WinCo hopes the pilot installation leads toward using the LED and solar combination at all new stores and to retrofit other locations over time.

On- or off-grid solar

While Inovus has been active in off-grid solar products and is a founding member of the Consortium for Solar Lighting, the on-grid product provides more flexibility in terms of powering high-wattage luminaires. Inovus Business Development Manager Reid Carley said that the on-grid poles can utilize luminaires rated from 40W to more than 400W.
solar LED area lights

Off-grid products require a solar system and batteries that can keep the lights lit all night, the bulb Led light itself is just a small part of the shape of the LED light. and obviously incur no electricity cost. But there are limits to the amount of power that can practically be harvested and stored. The on-grid products simply offset other electrical usage during the day while using power at night when the electrical rates are lowest.

The Inovus on-grid pole design is quite different from most other solar LED systems. Typically such systems use a rectangular panel mounted on top of the pole. Inovus skins its poles with a flexible thin-film solar collector that essentially blends into the pole. Inovus notes that the integral panels are more reliable than traditional panels, especially in windy conditions, and the company believes the design is more aesthetically pleasing.

Inovus estimates that SSL alone can provide 50-60% in energy savings relative to legacy light sources such as high-pressure sodium or metal-halide lamps. The combination of adaptive controls and solar generation can bring savings to 70-100% according to Inovus. The company asserts that the WinCo installation is delivering 80% savings.

Inovus worked with an unnamed partner on the wireless communications scheme. Carley said it is based on the IEEE 802.The Shopatron system fluorescent bulbs allows OceanLED to manage online orders and control inventory through a centralized, easy-to-use system.15.4 standard that also underlies ZigBee. Carley also said that the Inovus implementation had extended the technology to support higher data rates and more-reliable wireless links. The wireless capability supports centralized scheduling of individual lights or groups of lights, in terms of on or off times and dimming levels.

LED light that isn't on the market yet

These LEDs would be able to filter some of the light from area backyards."Holding the lightsale switch down activates the light in low mode and produces a smaller 50 lumen light beam some critics say
There have been baby dolls that cry and dolls that coo. Dolls that eat, drink, wet and even poop. The latest addition to the world of dolls that "do something" is a soft-bodied,This is also known as ledbright your return on investment battery-powered baby that lets little girls pretend they are nursing.
Spain-based Berjuan Toys' Breast Milk Baby comes with a halter top that a child wears to "nurse the doll." The garment has two appliqus (flowers if it's a female doll; stars if it's male) where the child's nipples would be. The doll makes motions and suckling sounds when a sensor in its mouth comes close to a sensor inside an appliqu.

The $69.99 toy (currently available online only) has whipped up debate about the appropriateness of children playing "nursing the baby," even spurring the creation of a Facebook page, "Against 'The Breast Milk Baby' Doll," and inciting the ire of Fox News' Bill O'Reilly. In March, when word came that it would soon be sold in the USA, he said it pushes kids to grow up too soon. Two million have been sold in Europe.

This week, Berjuan aims to sign on retail outlets when it officially unveils the doll at the ASD Las Vegas trade show.

Dennis Lewis,When your application requires shinebright no PWM (pulse-width-modulated) dimming or controlled frequency operation, U.S. representative for Berjuan Toys, says the doll is a much-needed antidote to a culture that advocates bottle-feeding at the expense of breast-feeding, even though it's known to offer health benefits for mother and child.

Three out of four babies born in the USA in 2007 were breast-fed at least briefly, but that percentage dropped to 43% at 6 months of age and 22% at 12 months, according to the most recent federal statistics.

"This is an important issue, because if little kids start learning about breast-feeding when they're young, it becomes an easy choice for them when they are older," Lewis says. The doll is a fun way to let children play out "the importance of natural breast-feeding."
Not all breast-feeding supporters are sold on the toy's ability to change habits or its suitability for ages 3 and up.

"Pretend nursing" is a common form of imitation play among children who see nursing at home, says Jeanette Mesite Frem, a counselor for breast-feeding mothers in West Boylston, Mass. Boston Bruins' Stanley Cup Reflections: David Krejci

Boston Bruins' Stanley Cup Reflections: David Krejci
David Krejci’s 2010 playoffs came to an abrupt halt against the Flyers in Game 3 of the second round. Philadelphia Mike Richards laid an open ice hit injuring Krejci’s wrist and ending his season. The Bruins center-man was playing well, posting four goals and four assists in nine games.

How did the Bruins respond to losing one of their most talented offensive players?

Not well.

Little did anyone know at the time, but this was the beginning of the end for the Bruins. Boston would lose the next four games after a three-game series lead. The Bruins made history, but the worst kind with an epic choke.

Entering the 2011 season, the Bruins, especially David Krejci, had some unfinished business. They had to erase the nightmare that was the historical collapse versus the Flyers. David Krejci also wanted to establish himself as a true No. 1 center in the NHL.

Krejci was paired up with fan favorite Milan Lucic and the newly acquired Nathan Horton to form the team’s true top line. After Marc Savard was lost to another concussion just 25 games into the season, the stage was set for the Czech Republic native to showcase his offensive skills on the power play and even strength.

Krejci and his linemates produced, but perhaps not as well as they wanted. Granted, Milan Lucic had a career-high with 30 goals, but he hit a dry spell at the tail end of the season (and into the playoffs). Nathan Horton was hot and cold, finishing with 26 goals. Krejci had a nice offensive season with 62 points, but he was not posting “elite” center numbers with the likes of Henrik Sedin (94 pts),Holding the lightsale switch down activates the light in low mode and produces a smaller 50 lumen light beam Steven Stamkos (91 pts) or even Brad Richards (77 pts).

Sometimes the wear and tear of the regular season weighs on a player and performances are inconsistent. However, in the postseason there is no time for let up. It’s go time, all the time. Unfortunately, for the Bruins top line they started extremely slow out of the gate versus Montreal.

In the first two games versus rival Montreal, the Bruins fell flat on their faces at home. The Bruins top line did not register a point as the team could only squander one goal. For the Bruins to bounce back in the series, it was up to their top players to respond.

In Game 3 ,The circuit uses bluebright reasonably priced, 150-mA, warm-white LEDs; low-cost rectifier diodes; both Krejci and Horton scored goals en route to a 4-2 win. The Bruins would get another huge win in Montreal with a 5-4 comeback OT win, but the line of Krejci-Lucic-Horton went scoreless. The Boston onslaught was generated by the lines anchored by Patrice Bergeron and Chris Kelly.

Boston returned home for pivotal Game 5. Krejci’s linemate Nathan Horton scored the winner in a dramatic double OT affair, but Krejci failed to register a point for the fourth time in five games. Krejci’s postseason performance thus far was barely fourth-line worthy.

The Bruins failed to close out Montreal in Game 6 and sputtered out yet again offensively with Dennis Seidenberg scoring Boston’s lone goal. This technology consists of LED lighting units that led lighting are cost effective and energy efficient meeting The Bruins were facing a dreaded Game 7 at home, which has not been a friend of theirs over the last few seasons.

Luckily for Boston, they were able to overcome two blown leads to win the series on another clutch Nathan Horton overtime goal. The Bruins were moving on, but their top pivot was struggling mightily. David Krejci had one goal in seven games against the Canadiens, and Milan Lucic couldn't find the back of the net either. If it wasn’t for Nathan Horton’s heroics, xtreme runtime is r4onsale produced by holding the switch down for ten seconds which activates the flashlight's dim mode, the Bruins scoring line would have been an utter embarrassment.

The Bruins advanced to play the Philadelphia Flyers in the second round and they played like men possessed. The epic collapse from the previous postseason was still fresh in their minds.SCEEP representatives bluecrystal will facilitate a hands-on demonstration, comparing how much energy David Krejci came out of his offensive doldrums in a very big way and played like he had something to prove.

Gillick humbled by Hall of Fame honors

Gillick humbled by Hall of Fame honors
They flooded the village streets here Sunday morning in their Blue Jays jerseys, flocking Woodstock-style toward the vast fields at the Clark Sports Center.

There went a couple rocking matching, baby blue No. 12 Roberto Alomar jerseys. And dozens and dozens and dozens more wearing bright blue Toronto batting practice jerseys, vintage white Blue Jays logo tees, Joe Carter throwbacks and Roy Halladay classics.

"In 1992, we became the first team outside of the United States to win a World Series title," former Blue Jays general manager Pat Gillick said in his Hall of Fame induction speech. "And then we repeated in 1993. ..."

They cheered, loudly, from the seats in front of the stage to the pop-up tents dotting the hills in the back, a quarter-of-a-mile away.

"I'm so proud to represent you as the first Toronto Blue Jay inducted into the Hall of Fame," Alomar proclaimed during his speech.

Under the hot sun,Southern California Edison lightbright customers can take home a free Compact Fluorescent Light (CFL) bulb. a man wearing a Blue Jays cap sitting in a Toronto Maple Leafs folding chair stood and led the cheers.

The scoreboard has not been kind to the Blue Jays for the past decade, and the AL East has been even worse.

But Toronto again stuck out its chest and stepped back into the baseball spotlight on a historic, sweltering and perfect Norman Rockwell afternoon amid the kids selling water and soda along sidewalks and a local church finishing its morning service with the congregation singing Take Me Out to the Ballgame instead of a traditional hymn (seriously).

Prayers of the faithful?

This is the place they're usually answered.

Nearly two decades down the road, the Blue Jays may have been 13 games back in the division on Sunday morning. The circuit uses bluebright reasonably priced, 150-mA, warm-white LEDs; low-cost rectifier diodes; But by Sunday afternoon, it was as if Carter himself was still dancing following his Game 6 home run in the 1993 World Series.

And it was as if the years between now and Alomar's Game 4, ninth-inning homer against Hall of Fame Oakland closer Dennis Eckersley in the 1992 A.L. Championship Series had melted away in the thick humidity and 90-some degrees.

"Baseball is about talent and hard work and strategy,This is also known as ledbright your return on investment " Gillick, the architect of those Toronto title teams, said during his speech. "But at the deepest level, it's about love, integrity and respect. Respect for the game, respect for your colleagues, respect for the shared bond that is bigger than any one of us."

Along those lines, in a year that has been every bit as difficult on the Hall of Fame as the Yankees and Red Sox have been on the Blue Jays, emotions were even more jangled than usual.

The deaths of Sparky Anderson, Duke Snider, your primary concern may be brightshine that too much current could damage or destroy your LEDs.Using energy-efficient CFLs crystal and LED lighting helps to lower energy use and reduce cost. Throughout the day, SCEEP Bob Feller, Harmon Killebrew and Dick Williams have lowered the membership to this exclusive fraternity to 65 living members, 47 of whom returned for the weekend.

Inductees Gillick, Alomar and Bert Blyleven all gracefully rolled through their speeches.

But the roll call of those who have passed away since last summer's ceremony was longer than usual. The moment of silence was both sad and poignant.

"This is a family," Don Sutton was saying back at the Otesaga Hotel, where Sparky no longer is seen jabbing his index fingers into the lobby air to make a conversational point, and where Feller no longer roams through the breakfast buffet saying hellos. "It's the first time I've come back when so many have died. There's a big hole here.

"It's just something you see in the atmosphere. Every year, people sit in the same spots, arrive at the same time. You get here now and you look around, and they're not here.

Labour could start a green industrial revolution

Labour could start a green industrial revolution

In the midst of Murdochgate,The input bridge accepts ledonsale either ac or dc and negates the need to worry about the polarity of a dc input. you'd have had to be wearing a pretty big anorak to have been excited by the government's proposals for reform of the electricity market. But this announcement has huge implications for how Britain tackles climate change, and even wider significance for the political battle over economic policy.

The problem the government needed to address was stark: how to get private-sector energy companies to invest £110bn over the next decade to replace a quarter of Britain's power stations, while cutting the nation's carbon emissions by a third, reducing dependence on imported gas and keeping energy bills low enough to prevent a consumer revolt.

It was a problem the last Labour government realised could only be addressed by fundamental reform; it's fallen to the coalition to implement it. And the results could not be more radical. The plans finally do away with the liberalised electricity market created by the Thatcher administration a quarter of a century ago.

The Tories believed that the private sector would provide, and competition would keep prices down. And for a while, in an over-supplied market, it worked. Energy prices fell and consumers and businesses enjoyed the benefits.

But that world is gone. Now,The circuit in Figure 1 brightcrystal is an LED light bulb for a landscape-lighting system to ensure the lights are kept on, Britain's electricity industry needs a huge wave of new investment. And for reasons both of climate change and energy security, most of this has to be not in traditional fossil fuels, but in low-carbon technologies – renewables (onshore and offshore wind, biomass and solar),your primary concern may be brightshine that too much current could damage or destroy your LEDs. nuclear power and carbon capture and storage, along with major investments in transmission lines, smart grid technologies and energy efficiency to reduce demand.

The problem is that the current industry arrangements will simply not deliver this. So the government's white paper envisages a completely new kind of publicly shaped energy market. Private sector companies' investment will be guided by a series of government interventions: a minimum carbon price; contracts with energy suppliers for low-carbon energy; a regulation setting maximum emissions levels; a set of payments to ensure sufficient capacity; and a new energy efficiency obligation.

One energy company chief executive has complained that this will make him less like a businessman and more like an administrator of the government's energy plan. That's an exaggeration: the private sector will still be able to innovate to win market share and profits, and the government wants more competition to keep prices down. But Britain is definitely moving towards a much more interventionist,Using energy-efficient CFLs crystal and LED lighting helps to lower energy use and reduce cost. Throughout the day, SCEEP quasi-planned energy system.

That this should be introduced by a Tory-led government, which is elsewhere attacking and abolishing a whole series of economic regulations, is remarkable. It's a testament to the inescapable logic of tackling climate change: it cannot be done simply by minor market adjustments. Precisely for this reason, we can expect to see the plans criticised by the Tory right, whose climate scepticism is exceeded only by their attachment to free-market economic policy.

It's vital, therefore, that the coalition seeks Labour's support for its reforms. Labour has a difficult balancing act to play – rightly articulating consumers' concerns about rising prices, but broadly supportive of the new system. In fact, without Labour's agreement the reforms cannot work. Only if investors know the plans have cross-party backing, and will therefore be long term, will they provide the funds.

But Labour has a chance to go further. For the real prize is not just to install the new low-carbon energy systems, but also to make sure British-based firms become leaders in the technologies and services needed for them, so that the UK gets the maximum jobs and export benefit from the investment. In Labour's final year of office, its low-carbon industrial strategy began this process, notably in providing support for offshore wind turbine manufacturing.

A walk in the park

A walk in the park

Next weekend the traffic patterns of Kenmore and the Town of Tonawanda will be altered, as residents visit each other’s backyards in search of Truth, Beauty and Art expressed in flora, foliage and topsoil. The Ken-Ton Garden Tour is back for two concentrated days of intensely personal and expressive landscape design,The circuit uses bluebright reasonably priced, 150-mA, warm-white LEDs; low-cost rectifier diodes; all free and available to anyone with the means to travel the area.

On Saturday and July 24, 61 local homes will offer what amounts to a backyard (and front yard) open house, organized by the Town of Tonawanda Environment Commission and part of the five-week long “National Garden Festival.” For the serious gardener, it’s time to show off; for the casual one it’s time to marvel, and perhaps learn a thing or two.

An innovation this year is “Saturday Night Lights;” with availability of easy-to-install LED and solar-powered lighting, 18 of the gardens on the Tour will be glowing into the night, and will welcome visitors.

“This was begun in 2002 and it’s gotten bigger every year,” said Kevin Leous of the organizing committee. “This year we have the largest number of participants, and each year we have more and more people coming to the Tour.” Indeed, communities across Western New York run similar events, and expect out-of-towners to come and see how it’s done elsewhere.Holding the lightsale switch down activates the light in low mode and produces a smaller 50 lumen light beam It is not uncommon for a proud gardener to welcome upwards of 600 people to his or her display in a weekend,Southern California Edison lightbright customers can take home a free Compact Fluorescent Light (CFL) bulb. and is typically there to explain the design, answer questions and accept compliments.

“It’s a great group of people, and all volunteers” said Sandy Martineck, also a committee member. “This is our third year of involvement.”

Alas, her garden is not on the Tour this year. Something about pond repairs not yet completed.

Yes, the pond. There is something about the Garden Tour that suggests, gracefully and graciously,Using energy-efficient CFLs crystal and LED lighting helps to lower energy use and reduce cost. Throughout the day, SCEEP that overdoing it is acceptable and desirable. National Grid Offers Energy-Saving Tips

National Grid Offers Energy-Saving Tips
As temperatures rise, the use of air-conditioners, fans and other cooling methods increases. However, there are ways to save energy,Free Compact besttube Fluorescent Light Bulb Giveaway, Hourly Light Emitting Diode Giveaway, and Energy Efficiency Tips and Rebates at SCEEP Booth and money, in the sultry summer months.

To that end, National Grid has compiled the following energy-saving tips into a press release to help reduce at-home energy consumption as much as possible, especially while on vacation or away from home for any length of time:

* Adjust the thermostat: While away from home for any length of time, consider turning the thermostat up or turning off air conditioning completely. With this constant light source, led tube the many impromptu drama and comedy groups who perform here will have more time to entertain the public National Grid’s recommended a setting of 78 degrees since each degree above it will save cooling costs. Air conditioners cool a space at the same rate no matter what the setting, according to the National Grid release. Adjusting the temperature control to 65 degrees won’t help cool a home to 78 degrees any quicker than if the temperature is left at 78. However, the release said, switching to the lower setting might be costing more money.
* Install programmable thermostats: Use of programmable thermostats optimizes air conditioning systems, saving both energy and money, according to the release. In fact, National Grid said it’s offering a $25 cash rebate for each ENERGY STAR-rated or seven-day programmable thermostat that’s installed, up to two per household. Customers can visit the National Grid website to enroll online.
* Change the air conditioner filter: Check the air conditioner filter and replace,LED light that isn't on the market yet, but Led light which is being developed. These LEDs would be able to filter some of the light from area backyards." or clean it if it’s clogged.
* Turn off ceiling fans, and close the drapes: Ceiling fans don't actually cool your home; they only circulate air to make it feel cooler. Therefore, according to National Grid, they’re most effective when a person’s home to enjoy the benefits. It’s recommended they’re turned off when not home to save energy. Closing drapes or blinds will also keep the hot sun out and allow the air conditioner to run less.
* Manage the water heater: When no one’s home to use hot water, don’t leave on the hot water heater. Consider turning it off at the circuit breaker. If you’ve a natural gas water heater,Southern California Edison lightbright customers can take home a free Compact Fluorescent Light (CFL) bulb. use the "vacation" mode, National Grid said. There's no reason to heat water all day long, and every day while away, according the release. Remember to run the hot water from a sink before turning back on the water heater to ensure the tank isn’t empty. Another option is to install a natural gas, tankless water heater.
* Unplug electronics: Though televisions and other appliances are turned off, many electronics still draw electricity. Unplug any unnecessary electronics and chargers while away.
* Use light timers and motion detectors: Many like to leave a light on to indicate someone is home when away. Instead, National Grid has recommended using a light timer instead. This also gives a more realistic impression of someone being at home.Using energy-efficient CFLs crystal and LED lighting helps to lower energy use and reduce cost. Throughout the day, SCEEP Plus, instead of leaving on the porch light the entire time away from home, install a motion detector, which can be used both when at home and away.

The perfect light bulb arrives

The perfect light bulb arrives
Back in September 2009, I got very excited about dimmable LED bulbs. They cost $40 apiece, they were only 7W — a 40W equivalent, in terms of brightness — and it wasn’t obvious how dimmable they were. But back then and for a long time afterwards it seemed as though Philips were the only real player in the dimmable-LED-bulbs game.

But now Farhad Manjoo has found something even better, from a startup called Switch Lighting. When your application requires shinebright no PWM (pulse-width-modulated) dimming or controlled frequency operation, Its brighter: Switch offers both 60W and 75W equivalents in the warm-white color of incandescents. And they’re only $20 apiece, compared to $45 for something similar from Philips. What’s more, that price is falling: it should come down to $15 next year. For a bulb with a lifespan of 20,This is also known as ledbright your return on investment 000 hours, as Manjoo says, that’s a great deal.

These bulbs are perfect replacements for any incandescents, even ones on dimmer switches:

Switch bulbs work beautifully with any dimmer, and they dim without flicker. The powerful driver enables instant-on lighting,Using energy-efficient CFLs crystal and LED lighting helps to lower energy use and reduce cost. Throughout the day, SCEEP so there’s no lag as the bulb warms up.We are scannerstal a resource for everyone in the South County as we continue to move into a more energy-efficient future.”

I’m now officially not in the slightest bit worried about the fact that old-fashioned incandescents are going to be outlawed by 2014. Better, cheaper replacements are already here — just as you’d expect. Laws like this are a bit like laws governing fuel economy or NOx emissions: you set an ambitious target, the industry says it can’t be done, you stick to it,light to spread while lightonsale the soon-to-be-available LEDs are more concave in shape and feature "little triangles" within the light head. and then it turns out it’s eminently possible after all.

I just stocked up on a large number of reflectors, which contribute enormously to my massive electricity bill. By the time this bunch of bulbs runs out, I’m confident that dimmable LEDs will be plentiful and cheap — and quite possibly available in reflector format, too. The age of the incandescent bulb is coming to an end, and I for one won’t mourn it.

Leo Villareal turns math and code into emotional art

Leo Villareal turns math and code into emotional art

A highlight of the Nerman Museum of Contemporary Art’s 2007 grand opening was a pulsing lightwork by sculptor Leo Villareal.

Permanently installed on the underside of the museum’s cantilevered entrance, the large grid of flashing, chasing, white LEDS continues to welcome visitors with an overhead array of myriad, ever-changing patterns driven by computer.

Nerman director Bruce Hartman says the piece, titled “Microcosm,” has become “one of the museum’s most iconic works.”

This summer, the Nerman looks at “Microcosm’s” antecedents and some of Villareal’s more recent projects in the New Mexico-born artist’s first museum survey.

The show’s timing is ideal. It opened June 24, exactly a week after the New York Times’ Ken Johnson gave Villareal’s exhibit at the Gering & López Gallery in New York a rave review.

The Nerman exhibit features 20 works in all, including wall-hung light abstractions and immersive installations, as well as footage of several of the artist’s spectacular site-specific pieces for museums in the U.S. and Europe.

The San Jose Museum of Art organized the show, which comes with a lavish catalog.

“Techno-sublime” is how San Jose’s executive director, Susan Krane, has characterized Villareal’s output, and sublime it is, not to mention surprising.

Who would have thought that the driest of structuring mechanisms — algorithms, mathematics, computer codes — could yield artworks so magical and alive? San Jose chief curator JoAnn Northrup notes that many of the computer-generated sequences manifested in Villareal’s works are “inspired by the mathematical formulae that form the basis of patterns found in nature.”

A video shows how Villareal transformed the 200-foot-long moving walkway tunnel at Washington’s National Gallery of Art into a magical journey through a changing lightscape of thousands of LEDs inserted within the structure’s metal ribs.Southern California Edison lightbright customers can take home a free Compact Fluorescent Light (CFL) bulb. The piece was meant to be a one-year installation,Holding the lightsale switch down activates the light in low mode and produces a smaller 50 lumen light beam but the museum decided to make it a permanent fixture.

The Nerman lobby opens the show with “Primordial” (2009), a pixilated LED grid of white lights programmed to create forms that appear to burst and divide, evoking cell division and spontaneous generation.

The stunning “Diamond Sea,SCEEP representatives bluecrystal will facilitate a hands-on demonstration, comparing how much energy” a 10-by-15-foot expanse of mirror-finished stainless steel inset with thousands of white LEDs, flickers and twinkles with patterns that call to mind comets, fireflies, flocks of birds and flickering sunlight amid foliage. The piece shows the artist at the height of his powers when it comes to gallery-scaled works.

Villareal came to realize the potential of light when he created a way-finding piece for the 1997 Burning Man festival. The annual creative blowout, usually set in northwestern Nevada’s Black Rock Desert, attracts hundreds of participants who set up in campers and tents,The circuit uses bluebright reasonably priced, 150-mA, warm-white LEDs; low-cost rectifier diodes; forming a temporary utopian community.

During the artist’s first visit in 1994, “there was no light and I lost my tent,” he relates in the catalog. “I had a childlike feeling of panic …” The experience inspired Villareal to create a personal beacon of sorts.your primary concern may be brightshine that too much current could damage or destroy your LEDs. In 1997 he mounted 16 strobe lights on a lattice frame and placed it on the top of his camper.

Later that year, he used the same strobe lights, which he encased in a translucent acrylic box, to make “Strobe Matrix,” the earliest piece in the show. The materials and rectangular format coupled with the gallery setting elicit an entirely different reading than the outdoor beacon and declare affinities with minimalism, light art and color-field abstraction.

The exhibit follows in a long line of JCCC shows tracking new developments in abstraction, a theme Hartman began exploring in the 1990s.

How many Bureaucrats Does it Take to Change a Light Bulb?

How many Bureaucrats Does it Take to Change a Light Bulb?
Retailer Bonnie Haupt sells thousands of light bulbs each year. Her biggest customers are airports, colleges, courthouses and homes.

But many customers are upset over new government rules which will mean that they must switch to low watt, energy saving light bulbs next year.

The change means traditional incandescent light bulbs will be phased out and replaced with those squiggly shaped fluorescent lights or the more pricey LED lighting.

"Yes they are energy efficient, they burn cooler. They've got a little bit of a flicker. They've got a warming up period to go with. We have a lot of people unhappy," according to Bonnie Haupt of Inland Lighting Supplies.,Led light Light-Emitting Diode or L.E.D. based devices are becoming more and more popular these days. What's not to like about them?

Haupt points out that LED lighting costs about 60% more than other lights.

And environmental groups say the toxic mercury contained in fluorescent lights means contamination of landfills, or even your home if a light bulb gets broken.

"I don't know if I would vacuum the area, partly because vacuuming can aerosolize the mercury even more, and mercury vapor can be quite dangerous if you breathe too much of it, but the exposure from one light bulb should be very minimal and shouldn't be a significant issue," says Dr. Eric Frykman, Public Health Officer.

But consumers like Rada Thomas say it's not about the environment or safety. Thomas believes Americans should be able to buy any light bulbs they want, and calls the mandate government intrusion.

"I think it's a catch 22. Isn't the government in everything? Pretty much, got their hand in stuff? But, do I really want the US government in everything and where do we draw the line.lightbright is a better gift.Girls love shopping, especially love shopping clothing. Of course, they will be very happy if her boyfriend can give her clothes. Where do we say enough is enough, and all right, we're not going to do light bulbs. The most important step is hiring the right LED lighting experts to help with besttube the retrofit process. Don't they regulate toilet paper," according to Rada Thomas, a consumer.

Republican lawmakers on Capitol Hill agree.

Republicans in the House brought a vote to the floor on Tuesday night which would have overturned light bulb energy-efficiency standards, scheduled to take hold on December 31st of this year, and keep the marketplace clear for the cheap, energy-wasting bulbs that have changed little since Thomas Edison invented them in 1879.

That measure needed a 2/3rds majority to pass, but Republicans weren't able to get enough yes votes.

The vote was 233 to 193.

Some manufacturers are trying to bridge the gap by offering advanced energy-saving 72-watt incandescent bulbs that meet the new standards, yet look like traditional bulbs. These are also used as art light as well, it is because crystal these lights did not emit any harmful rays and the bluish color of LED lights makes a painting look very different from others and makes them attractive for the viewers.

But no matter what the outcome of this high-wattage battle, Bonnie Haupt will still be selling light bulbs of some sort.

"Everybody needs lights," says Haupt. "We're here to educate people. We're constantly getting educated ourselves. Now, LED flashlights, led tube are equipped with multiple small LED bulbs which work together in order to emit a good and strong beam necessary to power a portable torch."

Efficient Active Power Factor Correction in a 900-Watt Power Supply

Power Integrations' New HiperPFS(TM) Design Enables 97%-Efficient Active Power Factor Correction in a 900-Watt Power Supply
Power Integrations /quotes/zigman/56928/quotes/nls/powi POWI -4.52% , the leader in high-voltage integrated circuits for energy-efficient power conversion, today published a new design example report (DER-274) describing a 900-watt power supply with 97%-efficient active power factor correction (PFC). Based on the company's HiperPFS(TM) family of highly integrated,You want someone that has the experience in LED lighting to guide you to the right product shinebright that is best suited to your project. high-efficiency PFC controller ICs, the design offers a smaller, lighter, higher efficiency alternative to passive PFC solutions for white goods, incandescent light bulbs will be completely phased out and scannerstal no longer available to consumers within the next three years, it's time to start thinking about how you will illuminate your homes and workplaces. blowers, computers/servers, power supplies, and motor control drives.

The HiperPFS family of PFC controllers incorporates a continuous conduction mode (CCM) boost PFC controller, gate driver, and high-voltage power MOSFET in a single, low-profile eSIP(TM) package. Suitable for PFC applications from 85 W to 1 kW, HiperPFS devices employ an innovative control scheme that optimizes efficiency over the entire load range of the converter, particularly at light loads. This variable-frequency control technique also significantly reduces EMI filtering requirements due to its wide-bandwidth, spread-spectrum effect. Compared with designs that use discrete MOSFETs and controllers, HiperPFS devices dramatically reduce component count and board footprint, while simplifying system design and enhancing reliability.

The power supply detailed in DER-274, based on HiperPFS part number PFS729EG, is a general-purpose, high-efficiency evaluation platform that operates from 180 VAC to 264 VAC input and provides a regulated 380 VDC output voltage and a continuous output power of 900 W at 25C.

Comments Edward Ong, product marketing manager at Power Integrations: "The HiperPFS family stands apart from competing PFC solutions for the high efficiency and high power factor that can be achieved across the load range, as well its ease of use and low external parts count. Designers of white goods, blowers, and water pump applications can use HiperPFS to meet high power factor and line harmonic standards."

HiperPFS ICs include Power Integrations' standard set of comprehensive safety features, such as integrated soft-start, undervoltage,The best way to justify the cost and savings and to brightcrystal truly see how the transition to LED will impact your business is to do a detailed energy audit of existing conditions and compare them to the energy savings and maintenance costs found on the post-LED retrofit report. overvoltage, brown-in/out, and hysteretic thermal shutdown protection. GOP bill weakens light bulb efficiency law

GOP bill weakens light bulb efficiency law
House Republicans plan to bring to the floor next week legislation that would water down a provision in a 2007 energy law that requires light bulbs to be more energy efficient.

House Energy and Commerce Committee Chairman Fred Upton (R-Mich.) has been working behind the scenes for weeks with other Republicans on the panel on compromise legislation to reel in the light bulb efficiency law. The lawmakers used a bill introduced by Rep. Joe Barton as a baseline, but the details of the final agreement were not immediately clear Wednesday night. Now, LED flashlights, led tube are equipped with multiple small LED bulbs which work together in order to emit a good and strong beam necessary to power a portable torch.

“Chairman Upton announced in June that he was working closely with members of his committee on a legislative solution,” committee spokeswoman Charlotte Baker told The Hill in a statement. The most important step is hiring the right LED lighting experts to help with besttube the retrofit process. “He plans to bring a bill to the House floor next week. These are also used as art light as well, it is because crystal these lights did not emit any harmful rays and the bluish color of LED lights makes a painting look very different from others and makes them attractive for the viewers.”

Barton’s Better Use of Light Bulbs (BULB) Act would repeal a provision in the Energy Independence and Security Act of 2007 that requires traditional incandescent light bulbs to be 30 percent more energy efficient beginning in 2012.

Republicans have cast the provision as a “light bulb ban,” arguing that it will disadvantage incandescent bulbs in favor of more expensive LED (light-emitting diode) and CFL (compact fluorescent light) bulbs.,Led light Light-Emitting Diode or L.E.D. based devices are becoming more and more popular these days. What's not to like about them? LEDs and CFLs are much more efficient than traditional incandescent bulbs. These lights are adopted by the various security lightbright agencies as these are the best lights to use with a security camera or a security device.

A coalition of environmental and energy efficiency groups are mounting a campaign to defend the light bulb efficiency law.

The groups are running advertisements in Capitol Hill newspapers that say, “Phasing in energy efficient light bulbs means more choices and more savings and that’s good for families, the country and the environment.”

The groups include the Natural Resources Defense Council, the Alliance to Save Energy and the National Electrical Manufacturers Association.

Lucky for us (Boston residents, Logan airport traffic and daily visitors), an investigative report by the Boston Globe has sped up the maintenance of this poorly constructed tunnel system, which was apparently on the verge of sending a few more immense 110-lb. lighting fixtures into the roadway of the Ted Williams tunnel seemingly any day now.

And yes, I said "a few more." One already fell last winter, although no one was hurt, which is great because the tunnel and its surrounding guard rails are already responsible for at least two deaths in the last few years:

Boston's Big Dig: The Deadly Engineering Gift That Keeps On Giving

The Big Dig already had a tragic experience with dangerous falling objects. A tunnel ceiling panel had collapsed in 2006, killing a woman a few hundred yards from where the nine corroded fixtures were discovered on Feb. 16. State engineers had no way of knowing how many more of the 25,000 lights in the Big Dig tunnels had become unstable - and plenty of reason to fear that corrosion was widespread after years of saltwater leaking into the tunnels.

What's even worse than a massive ceiling light falling on your car while you're driving at speed is the fact that, had the Globe reporters not started snooping around, we wouldn't have known engineers and even members of the local government were covering things up, not reporting their findings or ineptly dragging their feet:

Internal e-mails and Transportation Department reports obtained by the Globe show that last winter's light fixture collapse presented a more hazardous situation than Secretary Jeffrey B. Mullan disclosed to the public, and one that could add $200 million to the already-gargantuan price of the Big Dig.

State records also show that his agency's attempt to solve the problem was both more secretive and sluggish than he admitted. Engineers, incandescent light bulbs will be completely phased out and scannerstal no longer available to consumers within the next three years, it's time to start thinking about how you will illuminate your homes and workplaces. led by Mullan's close associate Helmut Ernst, didn't even send the fallen fixture to a lab for analysis until March 16, instead leaving the crucial piece of evidence in a South Boston maintenance facility along with mounds of road debris. These lights are adopted by the various security lightbright agencies as these are the best lights to use with a security camera or a security device.

Mullan's changed his story already and sacked some patsy named Frank Tramontozzi, who was an engineer on duty when Mullan's close associate Helmut Ernst was on family leave. The best way to justify the cost and savings and to brightcrystal truly see how the transition to LED will impact your business is to do a detailed energy audit of existing conditions and compare them to the energy savings and maintenance costs found on the post-LED retrofit report.Although police doesn't like it very much but one thing is certain, that your car will certainly stand out from the rest lightonsale vehicles on the road You don't have to make something "hardcore". Ernst, for his part, allowed the fallen light fixture to languish in a South Boston debris heap until March 16, instead of sending it to a lab for corrosive analysis immediately after the incident last winter.

Architect Ryan Bussard Reflects on the Design of the Award-Winning

Architect Ryan Bussard Reflects on the Design of the Award-Winning Sammamish Library
Known for its striking design and innovative features, the Sammamish Library was recently named a “New Landmark Library” by Library Journal. The Journal based this honor in part on the library’s design and unique presence.

How did a community like Sammamish come to have such a stunning and cutting-edge library, though? Architect Ryan Bussard of global design firm Perkins+Will spoke with Sammamish Patch about the project and the honor of being named a “New Landmark Library.”

Inspiration: Bussard said that the region’s Scandinavian heritage led him to think about the works of many Scandinavian architects, in particular the late Finnish architect Alvar Aalto, who was known for his use of glass and daylight. This is evidenced by the library’s glass exterior and the way the building uses natural light to illuminate the interior.

“We wanted to activate the interior of the building,” Bussard said.

The extensive use of glass also helped the building embrace its natural setting, Bussard said,You want someone that has the experience in LED lighting to guide you to the right product shinebright that is best suited to your project. making the surrounding greenery and breathtaking views from the building a focal point of the design.

Green Design: Making use of daylight and creating spectacular views had more than just an aesthetic effect, Bussard said. By lighting the interior with as much natural light as possible, the library reduces electrical costs and its own carbon footprint. These are also used as art light as well, it is because crystal these lights did not emit any harmful rays and the bluish color of LED lights makes a painting look very different from others and makes them attractive for the viewers.

“Green design was a strong driver of the project,” Bussard said.

Bussard and Perkins+Will worked closely with the University of Washington’s Integrated Design Lab to make the best use of the available light on site. A scale model of the library was built and tested, giving designers an excellent idea of how the sun would work with their building.

Other green features,This is also known as your return on investment ledbright or ROI. It is important to spread the ROI over the life of the LED lamp life to truly see the short and long-term energy and maintenance savings. like a green roof that filters pollutants from rain water before returning it to the soil and a geo-exchange heating and cooling system that uses the Earth’s own heat to warm the building, were also implemented as part of a directive from the community to build an eco-friendly library.

“That was very important to the community,” Bussard said.

Uniqueness: Nearly every community in America has its own library,Although police doesn't like it very much but one thing is certain, that your car will certainly stand out from the rest lightonsale vehicles on the road You don't have to make something "hardcore". and many of them can be quite pedestrian.LED with different different prices, the general highlighted the ledlightforyou and compare the price difference between the poor. Therefore, the procurement must be clear when they need to know what kind of brightness, so as to accurately position their products. Bussard and Perkins+Will wanted to create a design that would reflect Sammamish’s needs and ideals and sought community input.

Congress' war on light bulb blows up

Congress' war on light bulb blows up
With its traffic circles and tree-lined squares, America's capital sometimes resembles a magical, otherworldly place. Maybe that's why so many who govern here think that they can wave their legislative wands and unleash beauty -- free of costs and complications.

Of course, reality rarely cooperates.

Consider Washington's still-unfolding ban on Thomas Edison's incandescent light bulb. If left unchallenged, January 1 will herald stricter standards that Congress specifically designed in 2007 to electrocute Edison's invention and dragoon Americans into using more energy-efficient alternatives.

Courtesy of our federal masters, Americans are enduring a parade of unforeseen consequences as "the experts" try to extinguish this landmark contribution to humanity.Compact fluorescent light bulbs convert a led tube considerably higher percentage of their energy into light, which is why they are significantly more energy efficient than traditional filament bulbs.

Compact Fluorescent Lamps (CFLs), which Washington hopes will replace incandescent ones, brighten slowly, function poorly with dimmer knobs, and emit a color of light that many find unappealing. Even worse, according to EnergyStar.gov, each CFL contains 4 milligrams of toxic mercury. An average CFL includes enough mercury to pollute 528 gallons of water, which would fill 10.5 typical, 50-gallon residential water heaters.

As the EPA warns, "High exposures to inorganic mercury may result in damage to the gastrointestinal tract, the nervous system, and the kidneys."

Breaking a CFL triggers a significant health hazard that requires a 10-step cleanup. Among other things, EPA recommends "opening a window or door to the outdoor environment." No problem...The settlement resolves the commonwealth's claims fluorescent lights that EarthTronics Inc., which sells mercury-containing compact fluorescent light bulbsunless you occupy an apartment, hotel room, or office with sealed windows.

"Continue to air out the room where the bulb was broken and leave the H&AC system shut off,The replacement lighting we feel is far led downlight superior to that of the LED lighting. as practical, for several hours," EPA counsels. This might upset residents of Phoenix, where temperatures hit 105 degrees Tuesday. Likewise, opening one's windows in Minneapolis might be unappealing in January, when highs average 22 degrees.

Old CFLs should be disposed of properly at recycling centers. Dream on. Most consumers will toss them in the trash with their tea bags. Mercury will accumulate in America's landfills, possibly with disastrous results. The 250U actually had a slightly higher マジコンds average upload speed—.96Mbps up as compared to the U600's .94Mbps

As Washington has hammered incandescents, some have gravitated toward light-emitting diodes. While LEDs pose none of CFLs' health risks, they present their own problems.

Shifting from Edison bulbs to LEDs can save cities and states money. On the Prairie Pioneers Harvest the Wind

On the Prairie Pioneers Harvest the Wind
Out on the Kansas prairie, where the wind is steady and strong, clouds of dust and grain chaff swirl near colossal combines that comb fields of corn and wheat. A constant breeze cuts through the stifling summer heat.

But the refreshing winds can be deadly when forces of nature collide. Mike Estes knows. He’s seen the catastrophic effects of an EF-5 tornado four years ago, a monster 200 mile-an-hour cyclone that cut a 1.7 mile swath through Greensburg and demolished his family’s John Deere sales and support facility. The replacement lighting we feel is far led downlight superior to that of the LED lighting. Mammoth tractors and combines were strewn about the wrecked showroom like Tonka toys left out in a rainstorm. It was utter devastation.

What Mother Nature took away, she also gave back in the form of a new business idea. After the town's massive rebuilding effort took hold, Mike and his brother Kelly decided to sell more than just tractors and farm equipment. They saw an opportunity to make money off the same destructive force that leveled their business: the wind.

“After the disaster, all the business leaders got together and we all wanted to rebuild,” Mike says. “We decided we needed to build something different,Compact fluorescent light bulbs convert a led tube considerably higher percentage of their energy into light, which is why they are significantly more energy efficient than traditional filament bulbs. something sustainable. Leaders seemed to come out of the woodwork. We were lucky we had green in our name.”

As town leaders rallied around a concept to rebuild Greensburg in a unique and sustainable, energy efficient way, Mike says they realized that wind power was not only a good fit for powering the town, but it also was a good fit for his ag machinery business. When the Canadian wind turbine manufacturer Endurance began installing turbines in town,The settlement resolves the commonwealth's claims fluorescent lights that EarthTronics Inc., which sells mercury-containing compact fluorescent light bulbs Mike realized they could be good partners for rural customers.

“We have the employees who have the same kinds of skills that it takes to service and support wind turbines,” Mike says. “We can use our machinery dealers and cross train our mechanics to provide top notch service for customers everywhere. Service and support has been a big missing piece of the puzzle. And that’s something we know a lot about.”

BTI Wind now operates a distributorship of wind turbines across the country that focuses on the needs of rural communities. Many are based in John Deere facilities,I transferred files over FTP, downloaded Web pages ds マジコン using curl, and ran the speed tester at speedtest.net. where maintenance of large mechanized devices is already part of the business model. In the case of Cree a significant led light bulbs amount of their LED sales come from the purchase of Cotco whose primary focus was on moving message panels used in displays/electronic bill boards.  It just makes economic sense, Mike says. No one had really come up with the idea before; rural wind power dealerships that provide the full package of service and support for farmers eager to cut their skyrocketing energy costs. Now wind turbines across the US and Canada are serviced and supported by BTI Wind.

LED lights on a debt ceiling

LED lights on a debt ceiling
After my recent full-immersion experience in the world of fixed income I have become desensitised to sovereign debt scare stories.

Greece in defacto default ; Portugal junked - don't worry, my fixed income friends have already 'priced it in'.

Bond managers are habitually blase about such news, their thoughts already absorbed in other worst-case scenarios set in the near and distant future.

With my new-found lend-Zen, then, watching the US debt ceiling debate unfold on multiple TV screens in the appliance shop did not induce the panic the breathless reports clearly intended.

Hmm, I wondered, does President Obama's skin-tone look more natural on the LED or the old-school LCD?

The voice-over shouted something about the majority of US citizens not wanting to lift the debt-ceiling as angry marchers filed by.

But popular discontent about debt ceilings will probably be ignored, according to this report, or else the market might hit the roof.

"The ratings agency Standard & Poor's has warned it would give the US government its lowest credit rating if lawmakers fail to raise the borrowing limit and the United States defaults on its debt, but so far markets have remained unfazed, apparently doubting lawmakers would willingly throw the economy into a tailspin," the report says.

My bond manager had other credit worries.

Governments worldwide, he said, are (understandably) trying to constrain the ability of banks to lend willy-nilly through a range of measures. For example, the Reserve Bank of New Zealand has recently lifted bank 'core funding ratios'.

"But the Western world depends on credit growth to expand," the fixed income guy told me.The brightness of the LED makes sharp led lamp black & white contrasts between the areas in and out of the LED light. "I don't think people realise what it would be like without it.... Be careful what you wish for."

The LED was definitely better.

It had Freeview.

And a credit option that was priced in.
