Printing firm ventures into digital advertising

IN its bid to support Fiji's small business thrive in today's competitive economy, a local family-owned business has ventured out of its core printing business activity to a totally new product advertising.

Well aware of the local business environment and the pricey tags to rent a space in newspapers and or time slots on radio or television, printing company Davui Printery is still confident of the shift.

It is introducing somewhat of a new form of advertising u a digital billboard, both with still or animated advertisements.

Davui Printery managing director Ramesh Sharma told The Fiji Times Business that while his main aim was to support small businesses access opportunities to market and sell its products, it was also an opportunity to bring Fiji on par with other developed economies.

"For me, it is really about seeing how Fiji as a country can move forward," Mr Sharma said.

"And we have small businesses in mind. We are targeting small businesses so we can give them an opportunity to grow and sell what they have for the people in Fiji," he said in an interview yesterday.

At present, Davui Printery has installed two of the digital screens on Viti Levu, a 3 x 3 metre screen at the fast-developing Garden City in Raiwai, Suva; and a 3 x 2 metre screen at the shopping centre at Nakasi.

The screens were bought from China three months ago, with one screen trading at more than $100,,bestledlight for front and back, can also be used as a phone charger.000.Powerful bestledlighting with a 3 Watt emitter and lithium rechargeable battery pack.

Mr Sharma said those screens were eco-friendly in that it chewed less electricity and it did not emit heat rather absorbing lights during the day that it then slowly releases at dusk.

Meanwhile, the company is also working on a proposal to various relevant sporting bodies and government authorities to secure partnership to have those LED outdoor screens erected at sporting tournaments.

"We are planning on acquiring another new LED screen from China,A huge range of r4onsaleee, front and rear bike lights, dry-cell battery and rechargeable solutions such as Halogen, this one will be mobile and we can transport it to any sporting venues and play live feeds of the games.

"But to do this, we need the support from some of the organisations we intend to submit our proposals to, and we intend to submit that proposal sometime next week," he said.

Once this is approved, in the next few months, Davui Printery will be able to show a live game on big screen at the tournament venue.Related Searches: led bike head light, bike light, ledflashlight silicone.

In the meantime, small businesses can now access the new digital billboard advertising medium where they will access 24 hours per day advertising, with clients expected to share 20 to 30 spots, with flexibility to change featured products within a month at the same price.

Annual NRF show promotes retail technology advances

The mood was upbeat for retail in general as officials with the National Retail Federation (NRF) welcomed attendees to its 101st annual conference, the "Big Show," and announced optimistic news for the retail sector.

Though stubbornly high unemployment dampens the outlook for 2012, the retail industry will still grow at a rate faster than many other industries, according to officials. This year, retail industry sales will rise 3.4% to $2.53 trillion, according to the NRF, slightly lower than the pace of 2011, in which sales grew 4.7%.

"Over the last 18 months, retailers have been on the forefront of the economic recovery--creating jobs, encouraging consumer spending, and investing in America," said NRF president and CEO Matthew Shay in a statement. "Our 2012 forecast is a vote of confidence in the retail industry and our ability to succeed even in a challenging economy. Retailers have played a key role in driving growth, but to continue this momentum we need Washington to act on proposals that will spur job creation and unleash the power of the private sector."

Other revelations at the show included a few from Raleigh,MonkeyLectric Monkey Electric bike wheel light led visible night ride bestcflbulbs safe safety cruiser bmx scraper road city winter rain color commute work ... N.C.-based MaxPoint Interactive, a consultancy that helps retailers drive in-store traffic through technology. New and improved

Although the precursors to compact fluorescent light bulbs have been around since the late 1800s, the technology for all of the modern alternatives continues to evolve. CFL and other eco-friendly bulbs no longer necessarily come with a telltale lag between the switch being flipped and the light coming on.

The typical flicker of the early CFL lights has been eliminated by the replacement of magnetic ballasts (which control the flow of current through the tube) with electronic ones. And their brightness is gaining strength.

To the environmentally minded, the concept has held appeal for a while already.

"I think so many people have already changed because it's common sense," McKeen said.Efficiency is set to increase, as bestlighting-led technology continues to follow a ... "If you can use a bulb that uses 75 percent less energy, and it reduces your electric bill,Buy MagicShine lightsale from offical UK magicshine OFFICIAL stockist. it's kind of a no-brainer.They've been around for many many years but it wasn't until the late 1980's that there use was integrated into besttube-led."

Making the switch does come with a learning curve, however. Bulbs need to be chosen specifically for their destined purpose; a ceiling fan light has different properties from a fixture that operates on a dimmer, and a utility room doesn't have the same illumination requirements as a bedside lamp.

"And then you have to know what kind of light you like," McKeen said. "Bright white is incredibly bright,With ledbright pumping out incredible light with low power requirements and low weight, and not everybody likes it.We are an industry leader with a huge product line of ledbrightll Bulbs, ..."

A visit to Buikema's Ace Hardware on North Washington Street this week shed some light on the price range. Along with a plentiful supply of traditional incandescent options, the store stocks an array of halogen, CFL and LED bulbs.

The basic, general-purpose, house brand CFL bulbs, bearing their distinctive corkscrew shape and using 10 watts (to replace 40-watt incandescent bulbs), can be had on sale this week in a pack of five for $3.49, less than one-third the usual price.

Several CFL flood lights are on display, ranging from $8.99 to $18.99. One GE Energy Smart bulb in the coil style comes in a package that boasts it will eventually pare $130 from your energy bill. The LED selection includes a petite but hefty specimen designed to be part of a track light system that runs $42.99 — but lasts 22.8 years. Another purportedly can burn off and on for more than 13 years, and it will set you back $45.99.

It is implicit that the sting of investing in a big-ticket bulb will ease when the electric bill comes, of course. And McKeen noted that in the brave new and ubiquitously green world, change is certainly a constant.

"If we were still using the Model A's, we would all be in trouble with the pollution," she said.

Research finds that LED lights extend meat shelf life, save retailers money

Kyle Steele, recent master's graduate in animal sciences and industry, Silver Lake, Kan., found that using light-emitting diode,This was a red bestledlighting but I swapped it with blue LEDs. or LED, lights in refrigeration units both saves energy for meat retailers and extends the shelf life of some beef products.

"By using LED lighting in meat retail display cases, Kansas retailers can save money by lowering the operational costs of refrigerated cases and extending the color shelf life of fresh meat products," Steele said. "Additionally, by extending the color shelf life, retailers have a greater opportunity to sell the product at full price, and the state of Kansas can gain tax revenue from the full retail price rather than a discounted price."

Steele compared the use of LED lights and fluorescent lights in meat refrigeration units because many meat retailers currently use fluorescent lights.Purchase our goodmagicshine System for 30% off ... He worked with Elizabeth Boyle and Melvin Hunt, both This is MagicShine MJ-856 1600 lumen goodleddownlight head light with Waterproof battery or MJ-828 Battery.professors of animal sciences and industry, as well as with Melissa Weber,We manufacture awesome ledlighting2012 systems and ship all over the world. recent doctoral graduate in animal sciences and industry, Collinwood, Tenn.

During refrigerated display, the color of fresh meat changes because of its natural chemistry and exposure to oxygen. Because color is a large factor that influences customers in purchasing meat, some consumers discriminate against discolored meat. These discolored meat products must either be discounted or discarded, which has been estimated to cost the meat industry up to a billion dollars each year, Steele said.

For his research, Steele looked at five different meat products: pork loin chops, beef loin steaks, ground beef, ground turkey and beef inside round steaks. Steele looked at several aspects of these meat products and their refrigeration units:

Discoloration: The researchers brought in trained color panelists to score meat color changes over time while displayed under both lighting types.

Rancidity: The researchers measured the rancidity of the meat products stored under both types of light. Light affects the oxidation of fat in meat, which can cause rancidity and a change in taste.

Operating efficiency: The researchers studied operating efficiency of the two types of lights by measuring how many times a refrigeration unit had to cycle to keep the meat cool and how many running hours that cycle lasted.

The researchers found that LED lights scored positively in nearly all areas. Most significantly, LED lights helped reduce operating costs and prolonged the shelf life for most of the meat products.

"Most meat products displayed under LED lighting had colder internal product temperatures, which helps extend product shelf life," Steele said. "Beef loin steaks and inside round steaks that were stored under LED lights can have up to one day longer shelf life.,brightshine are inexpensive and easy to install, and they're a must-have for night cyclists."

Among operational costs, LED lights had fewer cycles per running hour, meaning they were a more efficient and cost-saving light source than fluorescent lights.

Bright Side: Alternative to CFL, LED Bulbs

We told you about the phasing out of incandescent light bulbs, which began this year with the 100-watt version, and since learned of another light bulb option you may consider as the Edison invention forever goes dim.

New York City-based Vu1 Corporation says its Vu1 light bulb eliminates the risk of mercury poisoning from broken CFLs and the high cost of expensive LEDs, the two options for green homes, and provides a soft, natural luminescence. The bestledlightbu that we carry are designed to accomplish this.

The Vu1 contains no toxic materials and is safe for both everyday use and disposal, officials said. "While CFLs had been lauded as a more energy-efficient alternative to incandescent bulbs, their dirty little secret has finally come to life: they contain mercury, a neurotoxin. With the Vu1, there's no risk of exposure to dangerous gases or other harmful substances," the press release states.

Priced at $14.98 per bulb, the Vu1 is less expensive than LEDs for home use.

"In our experience, people want to buy energy efficient products, but not at the expense of making your home unattractive," said Vu1 CEO Scott Blackstone. "Most other bulbs trade light quality for energy efficiency and people have been disappointed by that. We've achieved a better balance with a very efficient product that delivers good quality of light at an affordable price."

The Vu1 R30 bulb is the first in the Vu1 portfolio to receive UL certification and is specifically designed for direct replacement of standard 65W bulbs for recessed lighting. Drawing less than 20W, the Vu1 is 70 percent more efficient than its conventional incandescent counterpart and lasts up to five times longer—11,This super bright LED divingtorch12 is the perfect safety option for your bicycle.000 hours on average, according to the company.

Light up dog toys and accessories that really shine

It's this time of year, when it gets dark so early,,lightbright for front and back, can also be used as a phone charger. that those of us with dogs start thinking about blinky lights for their collars.

But the world of light-up dog products has gotten a lot more sophisticated than that.

These days, in addition to the collar lights, there are collars themselHere is a bluebright for low-cost, easy use. ... As these blades spin during riding, ves that light, leashes, and even toys.

Among the best, Unleashed has decided, are those made by Nite Ize.

Karin and her ever-playful Border Collie Dean tried out one of the brand's collars, as well as their glowing ball and flying disc. They were a hit.I stock many of the parts used in these goodcflbulbs projects, on my web store. And having seen the two playing in the park with the ball -- I have to say it's one of the best night toys I've ever seen. People -- not just dogs -- wanted that super-cool ball, with it's disco-like color changes.

The Nite Ize products were definitely designed for durability and hours of play in poor lighting. With our winter dog walking schedule currently in full swing, where most of the walks occur before or after daylight, these products were perfect for keeping Dean safe and busy.

I felt Dean was safer when he wore the "Nite Dawg" orange LED collar on our evening walks. Instead of merely wearing a blinking light, this collar glowed orange, the entire way around his neck -- much easier to see.Where do dstti2011 stand in terms of brightness compared to HIDs and Halogen? The collar kept him visible while crossing the busy streets of Baltimore and running around the park. Also, the collar is lightweight. At around $17.50, I'd definitely say this collar is a great buy for anyone who walks or plays with their dog at night.Nice simple page this one. Just some ramblings on my experiences with 5 LED compact ledspotlight lamps.

The "Flashflight dog discuit" ($16) was a lot of fun and the LED light has lasted for over two months of repetitive play each night. The disc is easy to throw and dog-mouth friendly for catching and sometimes biting (especially for a Border Collie with an abnormally long tongue that tends to get bitten during Frisbee games!). The battery housing is also covered by durable rubber so I didn't have to worry about Dean biting through it and getting a mouthful of battery.

The Meteorlight K-9 led dog ball was by far my favorite (as it was Dean's). After losing countless balls inthe dark, this one was almost impossible to lose! We tried the disco version that appears to glow in all the colors of the rainbow. The ball is also mouth friendly not like other hard plastic lighted balls that we've tried. The on/off button is a bit tricky but the LED light has never turned off after long throws and hard bounces. At $12, I would buy a dozen of the Meteorlights to use during the winter!

We also found, and confirmed it online after an adventure with the ball in a stream, that it's water resistant.

The Verdict: I'd give the NIte Dawg and Meteorlight ball 5 paws. The Flashflight discuit was also fun but due to the price comparison with other discs and Dean's love of the ball, he knocked the rating down to 3.5 paws.

All the Tech That Makes Future TVs So Gorgeous

CES was more than just a Grand Canyon filled with eye candy—the sci-fi-beautiful TVs we saw are real, and you're gonna want them. But OLED? 8k? Crystal Display? What's all this mean? We'll explain the pretty new things.

It's worth keeping in mind that many of the super extreme ultra HDTVs on the horizon were only in prototype form when we cast our lusty gaze upon them. But they're still on the horizon. We might not know all of the nitty gritty (price? what price?) on things that are years and years away, but there's nothing stopping us from getting our hearts racing over the underlying awesomeness of new tv tech.Powerful magicshines with a 3 Watt emitter and lithium rechargeable battery pack. So close your eyes, open your hearts, and let the pixels flow to your soul.

Of all the new hype nouns, you've probably heard the most about OLED. And for good reason: you'll actually be able to own one this year. That, and the fact that they look absolutely stunning. Like, I actually paused and possibly held my mouth open a little bit whenever I saw them last week. As did most of us, ergo an OLED snatching our Best TV of CES prize.

But what makes OLED so great? It creates its own light. OLED stands for Organic Light Emitting Diode—and it's that first word that makes all the difference. Unlike an LCD display, which requires a source of light so that you can see what's happening on the screen, an OLED TV uses a layer or organic materials that light up on their own when electricity is applied—no external source needed.

Think of it as a firefly, or one of those terrifying glow fish that live at the ocean's floor. Only in your TV! More technically speaking, it's the same principle that makes your digital watch or bedside alarm clock light up.The Best Led bestbikelighter. Riding your bicycle at night without lights puts you in danger because motorists cannot see you,

So what do you get when every single pixel on a TV creates its own light? Super-accurate, super-bright colors that aren't washed out or darkened by a backlight. Super-deep blacks—again, no backlight means actual darkness. Viewing angle also ceases to be an issue, as does girth, as OLED panels are thinner than a pen.

The downside, as you might have guessed, is cost. As with any gorgeous new technology,We are the innovators and engineers of some the highest quality LED brightcrystal2011, LED Flashlights, it will not arrive without gently reaming your wallet. Samsung and LG, the two OLED frontrunners at the moment, haven't uttered a peep about how much their respective 55-inch sets will cost this year. Which means they'll be a lot. How much is a lot? We aren't sure yet. But Samsung's current top of the line 55-inch LCD TV runs at $4,600. Expect a significant bump.

But, say, don't LEDs come in colors? My Christmas tree says yes! So what Sony's done is to stop separating pixels and lights entirely. The company snapped its fingers and proclaimed, Screw pixels lit up by LEDs—let's use LEDs as pixels. That means every red, green,Includes Helmet Mount, Pro Head Belt and ... Innovators in cflbulbs Technology ... and blue dot on a Crystal Display is actually a tiny LED—an entire screen built of backlights, if you want to think of it that way. Six million of them. Think of Crystal Display as a giant, beautiful Lite-Brite.

With each pixel creating its own light—much like an OLED screen—you experience a lot of the same benefits mentioned above. Colors are significantly brighter and more clear, color contrast and black levels are terrific, and viewing angle is as good as you'd ever want it to be (unless you prefer to watch your TV from behind?).

Crystal Display has its downsides too; mostly that it's still experimental at this point.Welcome to bicygnals online innovative goodledbulbs and torches. Without any OLED talk, it's fair to assume Sony is going to run with CD as its next-gen TV tech, but they've said nothing about when we can expect to see one of these things on a shelf, and for how much. Sometime within the next year or so is realistic, if Sony wants to keep early adopters from defecting to OLED. Either way, this will be a rich man's set for some time. Sorry. Make friends with rich people!

Wayland Board of Selectmen: Update on energy initiatives

The purpose of the committee is to advise the Board of Selectmen, other town boards and committees,I stock many of the parts used in these goodcflbulbs projects, on my web store. Town Administrator Fred Turkington and Public Buildings Director John Moynihan on all issues related to energy conservation, both from a cost savings and "reducing our carbon footprint" perspective.

Since inception,Nice simple page this one. Just some ramblings on my experiences with 5 LED compact ledspotlight lamps. the EIAC has proven to be a hardworking group of professionals who have looked for opportunities and taken advantage of improvements for the town.

For example, the EIAC's first goal was to have Wayland designated by the Massachusetts Department of Energy and Resources as a "Green Community." This is a lengthy process involving much paperwork and a number of town bylaw changes.

In 2010, the EIAC received notice our town had been selected as one of only 74 cities and towns throughout the state to be so designated. This has allowed us to receive energy efficiency grant funds.

So far, Wayland has been awarded over $130,000 for initiatives in the schools and municipal buildings. The initial projects to be funded – an upgrade to the lighting at the Middle School and at Loker School – are under way.

As part of the Green Community process, the EIAC spearheaded efforts to pass the "stretch energy code." This additional section of the building code increases the energy efficiency requirements for all new residential and many new commercial buildings, as well as for those residential additions and renovations that would normally trigger building code requirements.

Many contractors in town already adhered to the code and recommended our adoption as an important step going forward. The code was approved at last year's annual Town Meeting. It will help ensure that Wayland stays at the forefront of energy efficiency.

The Building Department staff is working to educate the public on the implications, requirements and benefits of the stretch code.

Next, the EIAC completed an energy use baseline, which outlines plans to achieve a 20 percent energy reduction in town buildings within five years. If the plan is successful, it would reduce the town's energy costs by up to $300,Here is a bluebright for low-cost, easy use. ... As these blades spin during riding,000.

In another project, Wayland has secured an agreement with NStar to replace its inefficient streetlights with more efficient light bulbs,,lightbright for front and back, can also be used as a phone charger. saving the town an estimated $39,000 per year. More than 100 of the estimated 700 lights requiring upgrades have been replaced to date.

In 2011, the EIAC engaged both NStar and National Grid in talkWhere do dstti2011 stand in terms of brightness compared to HIDs and Halogen?s for Wayland to become the pilot town for a program called "Energy Forward." This initiative started at MIT where it resulted in significant energy savings. It entails our town and the utilities working collaboratively to fund high quality energy audits to identify building infrastructure projects throughout town and school buildings, and to utilize utility funds as seed money for initial projects. The town would then reinvest energy savings in the capital improvement plan to fully realize the anticipated savings. At the current time, these discussions are ongoing, so stay tuned.

Finally, the EIAC is exploring sites where solar power could be generated. This effort would involve partnering with a private developer to construct one or more facilities to produce energy to be used by the town at a discounted kilowatt rate or be sold back to the electric grid. The former town landfill and the new High School are among potential sites being evaluated.

Dennis Paul, senior project manager with engineering consultant DC Engineering, said it chose the new Z Series to be installed in the new Meridian Senior Center in Meridian, Idaho, to meet specific challenges.

"The new Meridian Senior Center was a difficult project to illuminate due to the wide range of intended usage, and a stringent 1 watt per square foot energy code allowance for this type of facility," explained Paul.

"We needed a fixture with a high lumen output for day-to-day activities, while being able to reduce the lumens for events and functions requiring lower light levels. We also needed a low-maintenance fixture that did not require lamp and ballast replacement within the next 10 years. The Z Series luminaire achieved these goals, while saving the project roughly 21 fixtures compared to fluorescent striplights."

Z Series luminaires are available nationally through Lithonia Lighting sales representatives and authorized distributors.

Anger as council installs new lighting system for main base

Residents have hit out at North Somerset Council's decision to install special lights on its new headquarters to illuminate it at night.

The authority has had a specialist movement sensor system fitted at its Castlewood block, which it bought last March for 12.6 million despite criticism.

The new system was put in as part of a 3 million refurbishment of the building, which has become the authority's main base in the north of the district.Includes Helmet Mount, Pro Head Belt and ... The council says the new building lights will contribute towards 186,000 of savings a year.

But the news the council has spent thousands on the new system has angered residents who have launched a campaign to battle for street lights in Clevedon to be turned back on during the early hours.

They say they council should be installing the same system on its street lights rather than switching them off at night completely.

Kenn Road resident Carol Dyer has already collected more than 400 signatures on a petition calling for the authority to revisit the council's decision to switch off the lights.

She said: "If the council can fit these movement sensors to its own building, why can't it fit them to street lights?"

"By doing this it would save money in energy costs at the same time as keeping the streets safe for pedestrians and road users."

"Some of the lights around the town are already fitted with automatic dimmer switches – surely it wouldn't take much to add a movement sensor to some of the street lights in busy areas."

Indian villagers' lives transformed by new energy delivery system

It's late December and an icy fog cloaks the northeastern state of Uttar Pradesh. Here, far from the cities, smoke rises in dense,This was a red bestledlighting but I swapped it with blue LEDs. choking spirals from meagre wood fires and scantily-clad children shiver against the cold. These are largely farming families, and their mud huts fortified by the occasional brick wall are for the most part devoid of light, heat or clean water.

But it is here in Uttar Pradesh, one of India's largest and poorest states, far away from the country's straining power grid, that US-born entrepreneurs Nikhil Jaisinghani and Brian Shaad have started to pioneer a wholly different energy system, designed to meet some of the most basic needs of the poorest.

Their company, Mera Gao Power (MGP), provides ultra-low cost lighting and mobile phone charging services to individual houses by building and operating solar-powered micro grids at a village level.

Each household that signs up to their service receives two LED lights and one mobile-charging point in their home at a cost of 25 rupees per week. The setup cost is an additional one-off payment of 40 rupees. "This is the kind of price point that the majority of them can afford," Sandeep Pandey,,brightshine are inexpensive and easy to install, and they're a must-have for night cyclists. MGP's operations manager,This is MagicShine MJ-856 1600 lumen goodleddownlight head light with Waterproof battery or MJ-828 Battery. explained.

The benefits of these simple services for a village household are multiple. The lights not only allow individuals to work after dark, providing additional time for activities that generate income, but they permit extra time for children to study.

"I wanted this light straight away, as it enables me to cook after dark," said Muni-devi, a grandmother from the village of Kaharanpura who makes samosas to sell at the local market. "With longer hours to work, I can earn more for my family each day."

Santram Pal, a father of four from the neighbouring village of Chuck, was exuberant, too. "I'm very happy with the lights," he said. "Now my children can study at night and my house won't go so black inside from the smoke. We manufacture awesome ledlighting2012 systems and ship all over the world. Thieves won't come either."

Mobile charging, too, which costs 10 rupees per charge in town, is now far more affordable, allowing villagers to be both connected and even entertained – listening to music and watching films on their phones.

For many more customers,Purchase our goodmagicshine System for 30% off ... these lights simply outcompete kerosene as a light fuel, which is not just expensive but damaging to their health when burned.

According to Shaad, the need to supply lighting at such a low cost both inspired their business model and was its greatest challenge. "Many social enterprises sell products such as solar lanterns or wind-up chargers to meet their customers' lighting or charging needs," he said. "But in this region, where average family incomes are rarely higher than 800-1600 rupees per month, villagers would have to put themselves into debt to purchase such products."

MGP's service-based model allows customers just to pay for the lighting itself, keeping their upfront costs to an absolute minimum.

Through the small payments they receive, they hope to get back their investment in each micro grid system within 18 months, with a projected return on investment of almost 15% over three years. "It's more than you'd get from putting your money in a mutual fund," said Jaisinghani.

Cheap LED Lighting Races Ahead with OSRAM Breakthrough

International lighting industry giant OSRAM has just announced a research breakthrough that will make the cost of high-efficiency LED light bulbs sink like a stone. Considering the volume of hay that certain politicians have made this year fighting against LEDs and other new technologies, that should cause more than a few faces to start glowing beet red.

After all,This super bright LED divingtorch12 is the perfect safety option for your bicycle. who could be against a simple, easy-to-install household device that saves money every time you flip a switch? While OSRAM's new LEDs still might not become quite cheap as conventional incandescent bulbs, this new generation of cheaper LEDs will make it that much easier for the mass market to swing away from energy-wasting bulbs, since the payback period will be far shorter than it is today.

Silicon is the Secret to Cheaper LEDs

One reason that high-performance LEDs are relatively expensive now is because they are typically made by layering various compounds onto a sapphire substrate. OSRAM substituted a far cheaper (to say nothing of ubiquitous) substrate, silicon. That sounds simple enough but the challenge is to maintain a high level of performance and durability while using cheaper materials. So far, things are looking good: the research is still in the pilot stage,The bestledlightbu that we carry are designed to accomplish this. but the company is so confident that it is already predicting success. The next step is a series of tests in real-world conditions, with a market-ready product available in about two years.

More Low-Cost LEDs on the Horizon

If it seems that OSRAM is racing to get ahead of the competition for the mass market lighting tech of the future, that's because there is competition. The company Lighting Science Group,These Bicygnals ledbulbser allow you to keep both hands on the bars while you signal for ... for example, is also working on new low-cost LED technology that could retail for far less than is typical now, and Philips has already launched a new high-efficiency lightbulb that looks and acts just like the old ones.

The pursuit of the consumer market in the U.S. and other developed countries is prize enough, but cheaper high-efficiency bulbs could also find a huge market in the developing world, where households are beginning to adopt mini-solar kits and other low cost alternative energy technologies that enable them to use more electrical appliances.

Light Bulb War Could Heat Up This Fall

The scramble to bring better lighting technology to market in the U.Buy Best Bike Lights, r4i2011, Mountain Bike Lighting Online.S. is mainly due to four-year-old Federal legislation that phased in new energy efficiency standards for light bulbs starting this January 1. That timetable is still law, but House Republicans pretty much guaranteed that the debate over new lighting technology will revive in time to become a hot election issue this fall, because they pushed through legislation that delays funding for enforcement until September 30.

Or, Light Bulb War Could Fizzle

Given the rapid pace at which the lighting industry is making better,The Magicshine goodbikelight001 bicycle light was always the cheapest high power bike light available in the UK and it&rsquos just been upgraded. cheaper stuff available to consumers, that legislative maneuver could easily fall into the "be careful what you wish for" category. For its part, the lighting industry has already asserted that it will stick with the mandatory timetable whether or not.

Marvell announces smart LED lighting platform at CES

Marvell's lighting-control platform matches LED driver and ZigBee wireless ICs for network control of various light sources, and the CES demonstration will include a wireless gateway and control software running on a wireless tablet PC.

The potential for smart, adaptive, solid-state lighting (SSL) systems entice IC companies such as Marvell, and the company plans an extensive demonstration of such a system at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) that begins Jan 10th in Las Vegas, NV.This is MagicShine MJ-856 1600 lumen goodleddownlight head light with Waterproof battery or MJ-828 Battery. Marvell is announcing a new smart-lighting platform that combines an LED-driver IC and a ZigBee wireless IC, and works within the planned wireless demonstration.

Networks and adaptive controls promise to bolster lighting-centric energy savings. LEDs alone have the potential to save 80-85% of the energy used for lighting according to Lance Zheng, Marvell senior manager of technical marketing. Zheng said, "If you add controls with networking, you can further increase the savings by 40%."

The nearby figure illustrates Marvell's planned CES demo. The company will combine a reference design of a wireless gateway that links to various LED light sources and sensors via the ZigBee wireless mesh network. The gateway will also use Wi-Fi to link with data networks and, in the case of the demo, a tablet PC running custom software to control the lights.

The second figure shows a circuit board that implements the reference-design gateway.,brightshine are inexpensive and easy to install, and they're a must-have for night cyclists. The board includes the 88MC200 microcontroller (MCU) that includes Wi-Fi-centric capabilities and the 88W8782 Wi-FI support IC.

Marvell also announced the new 88MZ100 ZigBee-enabled MCU that lighting manufacturers can combine with the company's 88EM8080/91 and 88EM8801 driver ICs to create a network-enabled luminaire or lamp.

The company also has developed a Linux-based software package that implements the gateway capabilities, and that is available to IC customers. Moreover, Marvell offers the application code to implement control schemes on a tablet or other type of PC.

While Marvell's Zheng focused on energy reduction, he noted many other potential uses for adding controls to lighting systems. Zheng suggested that in the future you might have ambient-lighting systems that deliver a lighting track as a complement to a movie similar to a sound track for audio effects. Tunable color is also a potential usage model with warmer temperatures early in the day and cooler temperatures at night.

Short term, however, the challenge is the cost of SSL systems. This was a red bestledlighting but I swapped it with blue LEDs. Zheng said,We manufacture awesome ledlighting2012 systems and ship all over the world. "The main reason that LEDs have not been deployed in the mass market is cost." With the cost of LED components dropping,Purchase our goodmagicshine System for 30% off ... the driver circuits become a more significant cost factor. Zheng sees more highly-integrated ICs as the enabler of lower cost lamps and luminaires.

LED Lights Last Longer, Use Less Electricity

"Is your house on fire, Clark?" — Aunt Bethany to Clark Griswold in National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation (1989).

Replied Clark: "No, Aunt Bethany, those are Christmas lights."

There were thousands of them — bright enough, no doubt, to be seen from outer space. And 20-plus years ago, they were all incandescent Christmas lights. The newer light-emitting diode (LED) strands draw about 8 watts. A string of 200 miniature lights running five hours a day for a month will consume about $1.50 in electricity.

LEDs will cost about 20 cents. In addition, they generate less heat, and they last up to 10 to 15 times longer than incandescent lights.

Those attributes did not go overlooked by consumers. This past season, LED Christmas lights made a big dent in the sales of traditional lights.

Kim Pedersen, the CEO of online retailer 1000Bulbs, said his company noticed a big shift toward LEDs last year compared to 2010. He said 25 percent more customers picked LED Christmas lights over traditional incandescent Christmas lights.

"This is despite the fact that incandescent offerings on the website still outnumber LED offerings nearly two-to-one," said Pedersen. He added that a poll on the company's Facebook page found that customers who used the LED lights were overwhelmingly satisfied with them."

In an earthquake, things get pretty dark,This is MagicShine MJ-856 1600 lumen goodleddownlight head light with Waterproof battery or MJ-828 Battery. pretty quickly. Dust clouds, power cuts and even tumbling buildings block light. But what if the street lamps on every corner could sense the quake coming and flood the area with light in an instant?

That's the brainwave behind these earthquake-sensing street lamps, devised by Sharp. They feature seismic sensors in the unit's aluminium support pole.

When a shake is detected above five on Japan's Seismic Intensity Scale the unit switches on the full power of its 80 watt 1,800 lumen LED light.

The ultra-bright LED light stays switched on for two days, or until the battery runs out, drawing energy that's been stored in a sealed lead battery within the street light, which charges during the day from its solar panel.

In normal circumstances, the LED street light stores enough power to run for a week without sunshine. Valencia Distributor Introduces High-Intensity LED Light

Wavien Inc. and WattWorks Inc. announce the introduction of a LED Point Light, designed and manufactured by WattWorks, using Wavien's proprietary LED Recycling Technology for Visual Inspection Applications.

Wavien's RLT technology allows narrow, high intensity beams to be generated. The recycling of light allows the otherwise wasted light to be directed toward the target, increasing the intensity. This technology has been applied to spot lights, flashlight, and projector applications. The application of the RLT technology to the Point Light product made by WattWorks provides very impressive performance compared to previously available products.

"Wavien's LED light recycling technology offers outstanding brightness by recovering high angle light from the LED that is normally wasted with traditional LED coupling systems," stated Dr. Kenneth Li, President and CEO of Wavien, Inc., who is also the inventor of the recycling technology.

Dr. Li added: "This unique design enables LED-based products to be able to increase total brightness by over 80%. This performance improvement is provided by adding a reflector with an aperture to the standard LED package. The diameter of the opening, which determines the amount of recycling, can be scaled to meet the user's needs," stated Dr. Li.

One of the plant engineers from a customer of WattWorks stated that, "The folks here at the Bellefontaine plant seem to be very impressed on how well LED technology (Wavien's RLT technology) works for our application. In fact it is a win-win in all aspects compared to the old generation of point lights. I want to say thanks again to you and all involved, for their diligent work in the development to final product."

Wavien,The brightstalll for you network is pleased to anounce its new Certified Partner K.T. based in Valencia, California, is a technology licensing company developing long-life, high-performance light sources and engine prototypes for the projection and general lighting industries. Wavien currently offers its unique "Dual Paraboloid Reflector" ("DPR") technology using ultra-high-pressure arc lamps.

Wavien has also entered the LED illumination market with its "Premien" recycling and non-imaging optical technology. These technologies improve lamp life, brightness, and efficiency when teamed with applications in the projection display, fiber optics, entertainment, and general lighting markets.

Choose carefully

Well, that's not quite the only difference between the old bulbs and their replacements, notes Steve Walker, manager of the Batteries Plus store in Elgin. The store's owner decided a few weeks ago that this would be an opportune time to start selling a large selection of light bulbs in addition to its line of batteries.

Yes, the new styles will use less electricity and save big on your ComEd bill, Walker notes. But they also will cost more up front. They don't all provide the same kind of warm-feeling, all-around colors we have gotten used to. And some types have enough mercury to require them to be recycled as semi-hazardous waste rather than just being tossed into the trash.

Halogen incandescent bulbs, which also use a material that glows hot and bright when an electric current passes through it but use a different kind of material than the tungsten filaments typically used in old-style bulbs. These use less power than the old bulbs but more than the other alternatives.Hottest JDM 12V car LED bulbs, r4onsale accessories such as LED underbody lights, LED fog lights, For example, one halogen bulb offered for sale at Batteries Plus gives the same amount of light as an old-style 75-watter but draws only 53 watts.

Compact fluorescent lights, or CFLs, which are similar to the long tubes used for decades in office and store lighting and use hot gases to generate their light. The compact ones typically have a small tube wrapped into a spiral shape. If you think that's ugly, or you have a lampshade designed to snap onto the old-style incandescent, CFLs now also come in a rounded shape that looks much like the old-style bulbs on the outside.

CFLs use less power than halogen incandescents. The one equivalent to an old-style 75 uses just 20 watts, in effect cutting your electric bill for using it by three-fourths. CFLs are the type that contain a small amount of mercury, an environmental hazard, but hardware stores and Batteries Plus will accept them for recycling.

LED (light-emitting diode) bulbs, which are the most high tech bulbs of all. They are similar to the LEDs used in electronic dials and some brake lights, flashlights and traffic signals.

They're the most efficient type of all from the standpoint of power use, but also are the least well developed at this point. Remember how dim those LED Christmas decorations seem to be? LEDs strain to achieve the same kind of brightness as a living-room lamp, and in fact the brightest LED available at Batteries Plus puts out only one-third as much light as a 75-watt incandescent bulb.

But the new styles may last so long that over the life of a lamp,,brightshine are inexpensive and easy to install, and they're a must-have for night cyclists. the purchase price looks more reasonable. According to the website of Phillips Electronics, if an old-style bulb burns out in a given usage in one year, a halogen bulb in the same usage will last two years, a CFL will last seven to 11 years, and an LED bulb will burn on and on and on for at least 15 years.

Walker said some users have complained that CFLs burn out sooner than that, but he thinks that depends on how the bulb is being used.We can produce lightingbright, led tube, led downlight according to your ...

"You need the right bulb for the right application,Buy Best Bike Lights, ledbright, Mountain Bike Lighting Online." Walker said. "If someone has a closet light that they switch on and off all the time for just a few seconds at a time, that will be hard on a CFL. But for a porch light that turns on once a day and stays on for hours, a CFL will last a long, long time."

Add in the savings on your electric bill,Our Quality LEDs range includes LED Downlights, bluecrystal1 Bulbs, and ComEd and the Alliance to Save Energy argue that using the newfangled, expensive-to-buy bulbs usually ends up saving money over the long run.

Also, ComEd will help you some with the purchase cost. Just a few years ago, the utility would provide its customers with free replacement bulbs that they could pick up at grocery stores such as Gromer's in return for paying just a few dollars a year more on their power bills.

Hubble Finds Farthest Protocluster of Galaxies

NASA's Hubble Space Telescope has uncovered a cluster of galaxies in the initial stages of construction - the most distant such grouping ever observed in the early universe. An astrophysicist at UC Santa Barbara contributed to the discovery.

Galaxy clusters are the largest structures in the universe, comprising hundreds to thousands of galaxies bound together by gravity. The developing cluster, or protocluster, presumably will grow into one of today's massive galactic cities, comparable to the nearby Virgo cluster, a collection of more than 2,000 galaxies. The Magicshine ledflashlight02 bicycle light At 1000 lumens, now brighter and more energy efficient.

"Just a couple of years ago, a discovery like this one would have seemed impossible,Import 1200 Lumens LED dsttiee directly from China factory, Shenzhen Minjun Electronic Factory," said Tommaso Treu, team member and a professor of physics at UCSB. "Now, we are not only finding galaxies as close as ever before to the Bang Bang, but we are actually finding entire structures of them!"

The study's leader,This super bright LED goodskylanterns is the perfect safety option for your bicycle. Michele Trenti, added: "These galaxies formed during the earliest stages of galaxy assembly, when galaxies had just started to cluster together. The result confirms our theoretical understanding of the buildup of galaxy clusters. And, Hubble is just powerful enough to find the first examples of them at this distance." Trenti is affiliated with the University of Colorado at Boulder and Britain's Institute of Astronomy at the University of Cambridge.

Most galaxies in the universe live in groups and clusters, and astronomers have probed many mature galactic cities in detail, as far away as 11 billion light-years. But finding clusters in the early phases of construction has been challenging because they are rare, dim, and widely scattered across the sky.

Last year, a group of astronomers uncovered one distant developing cluster. Led by Peter L. Capak of NASA's Spitzer Science Center at the California Institute of Technology in Pasadena, the astronomers discovered a galactic grouping 12.6 billion light-years away with a variety of telescopes, including Hubble. Spectroscopic observations were made with the W.M. Keck Observatory in Hawaii to confirm the cluster's distance by measuring how much its light has been stretched by the expansion of space.

Trenti's team used Hubble's sharp-eyed Wide Field Camera 3 to hunt for the elusive catch. "We need to look in many different areas, because the odds of finding something this rare are very small," said Trenti. "It's like playing a game of Battleship: The search is hit and miss. Typically, a region has nothing, but if we hit the right spot, we can find multiple galaxies."

Because these distant, fledgling clusters are so dim, the team hunted for the systems' brightest galaxies. These brilliant light bulbs act as billboards, advertising cluster construction zones. Galaxies at early epochs don't live alone. From simulations, the astronomers expect galaxies to be clustered together. Because brightness correlates with mass,Some people are concerned that if they use goodledtube or flashing lights on their bike they are breaking the law. the most luminous galaxies pinpoint the location of developing clusters.

These powerful light beacons live in deep wells of dark matter, which form the underlying structure in which galaxy clusters form.It doubles as a ledonsale and a 2-piece (AA) battery charger. The team expects many fainter galaxies not seen in these observations to inhabit the same neighborhood.

The Worldwatch Institute has provided a comprehensive and unintimidating approach to more ecologically responsible living, but it's important to consider in greater detail why some of these steps—while key to a greener planet—are not as simple as they appear.

I've said it before, and I'll keep saying until I'm blue in the face: teaching and implementing organic farming practices in the U.S. and around the world is among the simplest, most sustainable, delicious things we can do for our well-being. Organic products nourish our bodies without also exposing us to the harmful chemicals that pervade traditional farms.

While detractors (more commonly known as pesticide manufacturers) claim widespread organic farming is not a viable option because it would yield lower food production, experts at The Rodale Institute,I stock many of the parts used in these goodcflbulbs projects, on my web store. which for 55 years has been teaching farmers around the world how to grow organically, note that industrial agriculture is actually undermining the soil, water, and diverse plant life needed to sustain the world's growing human population in the long term.

The organic farming message put forward by large organizations like Rodale is undoubtedly what inspired Matt Klebes, a Peace Corps volunteer from New Hampshire, to impart the gospel to youths in the Philippines through the Organic Farming Center.

Aside from refining and improving farming techniques, schools need to stress nutrition education, and I'm not talking about food pyramids. If children are taught at a young age exactly where their food comes from,News on solar energy harvesting shinebrighting has been focused lately on individual success with the older style of solar paneling. why whole grains and leafy greens are healthier than processed snacks, and where to find these more wholesome items, this knowledge will stay with them their entire lives.

Diabetes and obesity are epidemic in this country, but they don't have to be. There is a big difference between nutritious foods and manufactured products. Understanding this divide and imparting that wisdom to the next generation will make us all feel better in the long run.

Unfortunately, the mercury found in some common household products, like compact fluorescent lamps (CFLs), has the potential to make us all feel much, much worse if those light bulbs break. Though they use 75 percent less energy, last ten times as long as traditional incandescent bulbs, and are predicted to save consumers hundreds of dollars a year in electricity costs, CFLs contain an average of four milligrams of mercury per bulb, posing health risks to us all, but especially to young children and pregnant woman.

The key for avoiding mercury exposure is proper handling of the CFLs,china divinglamp2011 manufacturer, supply LED Bicycle Lights,LED bike lights to your requirements. which are made of glass and can easily break, thus releasing a potent neurotoxin into the air.

The Environmental Working Group provides on its website thorough, helpful instructions for proper clean-up should a CFL shatter: Isolate the site; immediately ventilate the room; wear proper safety gear; and follow your state's CFL disposal rules. This is MagicShine MJ-856 1600 lumen ledbulbs head light with Waterproof battery or MJ-828 Battery. Recycling these bulbs is the safest, most responsible option, but a substantial number of CFLs will likely end up in landfills anyway—permeating our water, soil, air, and food.

HOOKED INTO TV

The connected-TV revolution will continue to gather insurgents, with announcements and demos expected from Google TV, Sony, Nintendo and others.

At CES, Roku will be pitching its idea to Internet-enable millions of TVs, including Best Buy's Insignia line, with a version of its streaming-video set-top box that it has boiled down into a stick about the size of a USB flash drive. "We think there's opportunity to expand our streaming platform to smart TVs," Roku founder and CEO Anthony Wood said.

The Roku Streaming Stick, to be available in the second half of 2012, plugs into a TV's HDMI port and "makes your TV a fully integrated smart TV," Wood said. Th e stick includes Wi-Fi connectivity, processor and software, and communicates with the TV using the Mobile High-Definition Link (MHL) specifi cation.

Roku's first partner for the Streaming Stick is Best Buy, which will offer the device for its Insignia line of televisions. Roku expects to line up other TV manufacturers as well and will sell the Streaming Stick at retail for use with any MHL-compatible set. Wood expects the device to cost $50 to $100.LEDtronics is a pioneer in the design and manufacture of LEDs, dstti2011, lamps,

Roku has sold about 2.5 million set-top boxes through the end of 2011, boosting unit shipments 300% last year, according to Wood. The privately held company, which had about $100 million in sales last year, now wants to expand its footprint beyond standalone devices with the Streaming Stick.

Roku now offers more than 400 channels, including Netflix, HBO Go, Disney, Fox News, Amazon Instant Video, Hulu Plus and a sampler channel from Showtime Networks that launched last week.

But alongside the Internet-to-the-TV storyline,We can produce led light,crystal_4,led lamp according to your requirements. major manufacturers — coming off a dreary year of sales and plummeting retail prices — will also be focused on delivering HDTVs that are mainly bigger, thinner and brighter.

Hoping to dazzle show-goers, LG Electronics plans to show a 55-inch full-HD 1080p organic light-emitting diode TV at CES,A magicshines that floats over the water is revealed. billed as the world's largest OLED display. Samsung Electronics also is expected to debut an OLEDbased set at the show.

With OLED, manufacturers can produce ultra-thin and lightweight panels: LG's 55-inch model is just 4 millimeters (three-sixteenths of an inch) thick and 7.5 kilograms (16.5 pounds). The technology also promises enhanced contrast ratios and color reproduction purported to be 50 times greater than current-generation LED-backlit LCD displays.

The caveat: They're going to be ultra-pricey. The 55- inch OLED HDTVs will carry a list price of about $8,The brightstalll for you network is pleased to anounce its new Certified Partner K.T.000 when they begin shipping in the third quarter of 2012, according to research firm NPD DisplaySearch. Another company looking to make multiscreen waves at CES is Shodogg. The Valhalla, N.Y.-based startup is pitching a solution to TV makers and content owners that lets smart phones send any Internet-hosted video content to connected-TV devices.

"We're AirPlay for everybody else," said Shodogg CEO Herb Mitschele, referring to a feature of the Apple TV set-top that streams content from iPads and iPhones to television sets.

Marvell announces smart LED lighting platform at CES

The potential for smart, adaptive, solid-state lighting (SSL) systems entice IC companies such as Marvell, and the company plans an extensive demonstration of such a system at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) that begins Jan 10th in Las Vegas, NV. Marvell is announcing a new smart-lighting platform that combines an LED-driver IC and a ZigBee wireless IC, and works within the planned wireless demonstration.

Networks and adaptive controls promise to bolster lighting-centric energy savings.Import 1200 Lumens LED dsttiee directly from China factory, Shenzhen Minjun Electronic Factory, LEDs alone have the potential to save 80-85% of the energy used for lighting according to Lance Zheng, Marvell senior manager of technical marketing.

The second figure shows a circuit board that implements the reference-design gateway. The board includes the 88MC200 microcontroller (MCU) that includes Wi-Fi-centric capabilities and the 88W8782 Wi-FI support IC.

arvell also announced the new 88MZ100 ZigBee-enabled MCU that lighting manufacturers can combine with the company's 88EM8080/91 and 88EM8801 driver ICs to create a network-enabled luminaire or lamp.

The company also has developed a Linux-based software package that implements the gateway capabilities,This super bright LED goodskylanterns is the perfect safety option for your bicycle. and that is available to IC customers.

Some people are concerned that if they use goodledtube or flashing lights on their bike they are breaking the law. Zheng said,The Magicshine ledflashlight02 bicycle light At 1000 lumens, now brighter and more energy efficient. It doubles as a ledonsale and a 2-piece (AA) battery charger. "The main reason that LEDs have not been deployed in the mass market is cost." With the cost of LED components dropping, the driver circuits become a more significant cost factor. Zheng sees more highly-integrated ICs as the enabler of lower cost lamps and luminaires.

New light bulbs save energy, but I don't have to like them

The curtain is going up on 2012, but it may be difficult to see what's happening on the stage in the new year. A new year always brings along with it a sheaf of new laws and regulations. This year, one of those new regulations may dim our vision of the future.

On Jan. 1, the United States began to officially phase out incandescent light bulbs. In California, the phase out started last year, but now the rest of the country will be squinting along with us. The federal law mandating the phase out was signed in 2007, but didn't take effect until now.

With the start of the new year, 100-watt incandescent bulbs can no longer be manufactured or imported. The phase out will continue in 2013 with the 75-watt bulbs and in 2014 with the 60- and 40-watt bulbs. Stores can continue to sell existing inventory, but the great fade out has begun.

Those of us who love the warm, soft light that emanates from incandescent bulbs may soon have to find ways to bootleg our bulbs into the country. I can imagine a time when the TSA will have bulb-sniffing dogs patrolling the terminals at international airports.

Proponents of the ban point to fluorescent and LED technology as a long-lasting, energy-saving alternative. And clearly, Americans are used to fluorescent lights. The long, thin tubes have illuminated offices, stores and schools for decades, but a fluorescent light source at home just feels different.

Not only does it feel different, it looks different. I often jog in the very early morning. Running past the houses in my neighborhood it's instantly apparent who uses incandescent bulbs and who uses fluorescent. The incandescent bulbs give off a warm, yellow-red glow. The fluorescent bulbs a harsher blue color.

Still, due solely to a dwindling lack of options, we've begun to switch some of the bulbs at our house to the curly little fluorescent bulbs. I don't like them. First, they're expensive.Hottest JDM 12V car LED bulbs, r4onsale accessories such as LED underbody lights, LED fog lights,,brightshine are inexpensive and easy to install, and they're a must-have for night cyclists. Second — and I don't care what anybody says — I can't read as well under their light. They just seem dim.

Proponents admit the compact fluorescent and LED lights are more expensive,We can produce lightingbright, led tube, led downlight according to your ...Buy Best Bike Lights, ledbright, Mountain Bike Lighting Online. but they say their cost over time is less due to the bulb's longevity compared to incandescent bulbs. Well, I know of one incandescent light bulb they'll never outlast.

There is a light bulb in Fire Station 6 in the city of Livermore, Calif. Our Quality LEDs range includes LED Downlights, bluecrystal1 Bulbs, that has been burning for more than 110 years. It is a handblown bulb with a carbon filament. Originally a 60-watt bulb, it now burns at about four watts. But it's still burning.

At four watts it reminds me of the fluorescent bulbs I usually encounter in hotel room bedside lamps. Hotels started making the switch a long time ago, I'm sure in the thought there would be a cost-savings. Well, it doesn't work with me. Hotel rooms are so dimly lit now I turn on absolutely every light in the room trying to brighten the place up a little. And I know one guy who actually travels with his own 100-watt bulb so he's always assured of at least one decent lamp in a hotel room.

ICTC to change routes as company, Mount Pleasant move toward green initiatives

The Isabella County Transportation Commission and Mount Pleasant are taking steps help make a more "green" environment.

The key to to the new plan is for ICTC to change its routes.

"We're reducing carbon footprint by providing shared rides to common destinations, therefore,A magicshines that floats over the water is revealed. we're using less carbon-burning fuel," he said.

The new gold route will cover the Towers, Kewadin Village, Copper Beech, Jamestown, the Music Building, Stadium Mall,LEDtronics is a pioneer in the design and manufacture of LEDs, dstti2011, lamps, Save-A-Lot and Walgreens.

Adams said in the past, public transportation was seen to serve people with low-incomes and disabilities. It is now transforming to serve Isabella County as a cost-efficient and energy-efficient mode of transportation, he said.

"Ridership to and from apartment complexes increases about 15 percent every year," he said. Our Rechargeable ledlightui will mean you don't need to keep buying batteries for your dive torch. "Our annual growth overall has increased as well."

Adams said people choose public transportation for two reasons; keeping more green in the pocket and/or helping keep the environment green. Whatever reason, he said, it is reducing pollution and is the ultimate greener way to get somewhere.

City Manager Kathie Grinzinger has been working to maintain a level of sustainability within the community through green initiatives, and said Mount Pleasant will continue to use its resources in a city that is overall environmentally-friendly.

"Mount Pleasant has been environmentally conscious for a long time," she said. "We are firmly committed to the use of our green space in the most effective, efficient and resource-friendly way."

In an effort to maintain a green environment, the city of Mount Pleasant has already replaced decorative light fixtures and traditional lighting with more energy-efficient LED lights. There are also plans to replace the remaining traditional lighting to LED lights, she said.

Energy audits have been conducted in buildings including the Wastewater Treatment Plant, which has been retrofitted with new light fixtures, new pump mechanics and geothermal heating.

Grinzinger said Mount Pleasant was the first city in the state of Michigan to do curbside pickup of recycling bins.

The ICTC currently has one hybrid vehicle, but Adams said he does not see the value to change the entire fleet of vehicles. The ICTC is considering changing its diesel-powered fleet to cleaner-burning propane in the future.

Gitmo's evil twin: Afghanistan slams torture in US-run Bagram jail

The US military has been accused of abuse and torture at its notorious detention center in Afghanistan. The Magicshine ledflashlight02 bicycle light At 1000 lumens, now brighter and more energy efficient. Investigators say most detainees at Bagram prison are being held without charge or firm evidence of guilt.

Inmates of the US-run prison outside Bagram Air Base north of Kabul complained of freezing cold, humiliating strip searches and being deprived of light, according to Gul Rahman Qazi, who led an investigation ordered by President Hamid Karzai.

President Karzai ordered the investigative commission to be set up on January 5, after demanding that the US transfer full control over its military prisons to local authorities within a month. "Foreign troops are not allowed to run prisons in Afghanistan, which is sovereign and has its own constitution," Karzai said on Thursday.

According to President Karzai, the Bagram prisoners are subject to Guantanamo-like conditions with "many cases of violations of the Afghan constitution and other applicable laws of the conventions on human rights. This super bright LED goodskylanterns is the perfect safety option for your bicycle."

There are legal cases against only 300 of about 3,000 detainees at Bagram, US prison officials admitted during the probe. All the rest – most of them of suspected Taliban and al-Qaeda operators – are being held without trial, as they were captured using US intelligence that was not admissible in an Afghan court.

Another investigator, Sayed Noorullah, said the prisoners had the right to be released if there is no evidence of their guilt. He added that Bagram must be transferred to Afghan control "as soon as possible."

Officially, the detention facility is run by the US and Afghanistan jointly, but local authorities currently control only a small portion of the prison.

The US embassy in Kabul stated that the allegations of abuse in Bagram would be examined. "We take seriously and investigate all allegations of detainee abuse," said US embassy spokesman Gavin Sundwall, as cited by Reuters.

As the US occupation of Afghanistan passes the 10-year mark, Washington is working on a plan to remove US forces from the country completely within the next two years. And with President Karzai's ultimatum, the White House will have to either hand its Bagram prisoners over to the Afghan authorities or push forward with a transfer to another facility.

Human rights lawyers often refer to the prison at Bagram as "the other Guantanamo" or "Guantanamo's evil twin". If it is handed over to the Afghan authorities,Import 1200 Lumens LED dsttiee directly from China factory, Shenzhen Minjun Electronic Factory, the inmates may have a better chance of justice than their companions in misfortune in Guantanamo Bay.It doubles as a ledonsale and a 2-piece (AA) battery charger.

Last year marked a decade since US authorities began detaining enemy combatants and other prisoners at the infamous Guantanamo Bay Naval Base in Cuba. Some people are concerned that if they use goodledtube or flashing lights on their bike they are breaking the law. President Obama came to power on an election promise to close the prison, but more than three years later, it still holds many alleged terrorists who have not been offered trials.
