New engine, new trims for Audi's baby A1

Audi has expanded the choice in its A1 small car range, with a more powerful diesel engine and two new trim levels.

Black Edition and Contrast Edition specifications are now offered alongside the existing Sport and S line trims.

The 2-litre TDI diesel is the fifth engine option in the A1 range. It offers 141bhp, along with 236lbft of torque, this available between 1750 and 2500rpm. According to Audi when combined with the six-speed manual transmission this engine will take the A1 through 62mph in 8.2 seconds and onto 135mph.

The new unit also scores on economy and emissions, figures of 68.9mpg and 108g/km producing 20 VED band B tax levels. Contrast Edition models, pictured here, cost 1,350 more than the equivalent Sport trim, and for that is added roof lines in contrasting colours, as is the extra aerodynamic body styling that is fitted.

Larger 17-inch five-arm design alloy wheels are included, while for extra cost a double-blade roof spoiler can be added. Contrast Line is offered on all but the 182bhp 1.4 TFSI model.

Inside the Black Edition replaces the S line model's manual air conditioning with full electronic climate control, while the sound system's speakers are upgraded to 180 watts of output.

Mahindra says that the XUV500 is powered by a 2.2 liter diesel engine which is generating a total output of 140 horsepower and has a peak torque of 130 Nm, mated to a six-speed manual transmission and having an average fuel consumption of 6.6 liters / 100 km.

The Mahindra XUV500 will be offered with some interesting standard features, like six airbags, ESP, automatic climate control, LED lights and a touchscreen infotainment system, for a starting price of 15.500 EUR.

Customers who will want more out of the Indian SUV will be able to order all-wheel drive, leather upholstery, alloy wheels, parking sensors and a third seat row, along many other features, with the top-of-the-line version reaching the equivalent of 19.000 EUR,Crystal first besttube introduced submersible LED lights for water features just over five years ago, and has since then worked to make the product increasingly being an interesting choice to its "European" rivals.
