City will hold hazardous-waste disposal day Sept. 10

Looking for something to do over the long Labor Day weekend? How about rounding up all the old household chemicals from under your sinks and in your garage?

It might not be glamorous or exciting or even fun, but getting rid of old household cleaners, batteries, fluorescent light bulbs,Frank said r4onsale what struck her most clearly about Vancouver is its backdrop of mountains. paint cans and so on is a job that, sooner or later, every homeowner has to do. Fortunately, Dakota County residents can get rid of all that stuff in early September.

The city of Farmington's Central Maintenance Facility will be the host site for a household hazardous waste drop-off event from 9 a.m. to 1 p.Ace Lamps are ledcrystal continually expanding the product range in their Southampton based offices with a growing online catalogue of over 4500 different lighting products for both interior and exterior areas.m. Saturday, Sept. 10. Any Dakota County resident — not just the folks from Farmington — can get rid all of their old hazardous waste at no charge.

This is the third time Dakota County has offered the service locally, city of Farmington municipal services coordinator Lena Larson said. The county is covering the contractor costs and bringing in staff to handle the collection. Farmington staff will be there, too, to lend a hand.

"The lines moved pretty well (in the past)," Larson said. "There are enough staff between county and city staff to get cars unloaded and moving again. In 2009 — the last time Farmington hosted a household hazardous waste event — the county logged 374 cars at the event, and collected more than 33,000 pounds of waste.

That's a good thing, Larson said. When residents bring the household hazardous waste to collection events like this, they are properly disposing of chemicals that could be harmful to people and the environment.
