A Long Branch man admitted today to being paid to torch a car with a
body in the trunk, but told a Superior Court judge he never did the job.


In a court hearing shedding more light on how Stephen Moore was killed
allegedly by members of the family of his ex-wife, Kathleen, Anthony Morris said
the woman’s father, Thomas Dorsett, claimed to have killed Moore, said Assistant
Monmouth County Prosecutor Marc LeMieux.

Morris then said Dorsett put
Moore’s body in the trunk before seeking out Morris to get rid of the car, said
LeMieux.

Morris also told Judge Anthony Mellaci Jr. in Freehold that
Dorsett later told him he burned the car himself after Morris had not,print

house. Authorities contend Lesley Dorsett — Kathleen’s mother and Dorsett’s wife
— tried to have Moore’s mother killed on Jan. 10.

Morris, who had been
charged with torching the vehicle, pleaded guilty today to one count of
conspiracy to desecrate or disturb human remains, a second-degree crime. In
return, state prosecutors agreed to recommend a seven-year prison
