The former member, mayor-in-council (lighting) Sushil Sharma took the initiative to install LED in select city thoroughfares. "I am happy that the new civic board is continuing with the project," Sharma said.
After assuming power, the Trinamool Congress board decided to take up a pilot project for conversion of street lighting near Kalighat temple, S N Banerjee Road (near the KMC headquarters), New Park Street and Syed Amir Ali Avenue.
